I was looking through a virtual ton of old House Beautiful magazines from the late 1990’s and early 2000’s and pulled a lot of pages out for reference.
This is from the Pucci’s home in Italy, and I just love the old French calendar pages and the way they are mounted on the wall. They’re so simple that the engravings are what you see, not some massive gilded frame. Of course, I also love the linen sofa, the flame-stitched ottoman and the great kilim rug!
Oh yeah!

I would love to ee more of this. We would get tips on what constitutes classic home design.

ReplyDeleteHouse Beautiful was always my favorite shelter mag. I had saved every issue from 1987 to 2001, then got rid of them a couple years ago during a mad purge.
ReplyDeleteLL... i found a whole huge stash of them at the Book Thing. and the funny part is that there were dozens of notes with comments stuck between the pages. I wonder if someone was planning a home...
ReplyDeleteIt's fun finding annotated old books and mags. Like a story in a story.
ReplyDeleteMeg, my favorite articles in HB were the ones where designers did up their own 500-square-foot apartments on a shoestring budget, with no client to please but themselves.
The funniest thing about that picture is that "Honeysuckle" was Pantone's Color of the Year for 2011. This picture could easily have been in a current issue -- it just goes to show that true style is timeless.
ReplyDeletei just love that living rea. it looks so fresh and new! love it.
