The Shops: With Gratitude

In the run up to the December holidays, and in light of my commitment to shop locally, I am starting The Shops, a new series featuring small, locally-owned shops. There are so many of these wonderful stores, true small businesses, where each of us live, and if we don’t support them, we will lose them.

I am pleased to introduce you to the first in my series: With Gratitude. Pam and Courtney, who run this great little shop are always filled with smiles and good cheer whenever I pop in to see them, usually when I am waiting for my lunch at the sandwich shop in the same small row of shops where their store is located. with gratitudeWith Gratitude is always filled with things I’d love to have (hint to family!), and their merchandising is always such fun.with gratitude 1They take their seasonal decorating very seriously here and their stock reflects the change of seasons, as well.with gratitude13With Gratitude recently got in some items that hold a special place in the heart of Baltimoreans – a range of Mr. Boh cufflinks, belts, and dog leashes and collars. with gratitude21I made Chris, Mr. Boh’s salesman, put on the belt to show it off.

The gals like to feature local items, such as these Maryland mugs and napkins,

or this embroidered towel.with gratitude18
Maryland’s state flag is one of the more unique ones in the US, and here, sections of it have been framed.with gratitude28They also have a lot of fun jewelry, including this necklace, which I’d find all sorts of occasions to wear’with gratitude24So, if you’re in the Stoneleigh section of Baltimore, be sure to stop by With Gratitude and see what’s in store! You’re sure to find something that you love!

  1. Thanks for this post. I've only been in B'more for a little over four years, and am always looking for these special little shops. I'm loving the cuff links. Those just scream my Dad. Thanks again for sharing! :)

  3. I love this idea. I should do the same thing in Fredericksburg. Local shops are so much more fun than mall stores.

  4. The dismal economy has already wiped out the interesting independent shops around here. The few shops that are left seem to have the same things, essentially the dregs from the Gift Show. Maybe that's what sells. Brava for your efforts!

  6. With Gratitude is my all time favorite gift shop. I never leave empty handed or without having had a good laugh with Pam and Courtney. You won't be disappointed by this fabulous shop!

  7. That must be new since my Baltimore days. I think I may have to order some Natty boh cufflinks for The Man Who Lives In My House. This will necessitate a new shirt (the kind that needs cufflinks!) as well. Are you going to feature Red Tree on the Avenue? and The Turnover Shop? I love the Turnover Shop. I got my porch swing there for $150. There are so many new places that opened along 36th st. since we left.

  8. I love With Gratitude! I've gotten so many gifts there. It's a bonus that it's only about a mile from my house...and that it shares a parking lot with Dixon's school.

  9. I'm not in Baltimore anymore!! There's no place like it, and your blog helps to relieve my Baltimore Jones!

Was in town for the Valley Planning Commission art show at the Colwill farm on Greenspring Ave. Loved every minute of my three days in Balto!

    LOVE this blog so much!!
