I am headed up to New York again, this time for some “poking around” with one of my sisters. We’re heading down to the Chinatown/Little Italy/Soho area. First stop will be a dim sum lunch on Elizabeth Street and then some hunting around for fun things for her two girls. Then a bit of time looking in the shops of Soho, including perennial favourite, Pearl River Mart.
I adore Pearl River’s silk notebooks, and I use them at work all of the time, and have literally just finished the last page of my current one. They’re less than $10 each, so make wonderful presents when you need something quick!

I am on the board at the Baltimore Architecture Foundation, and we’re continually hunting for interesting buildings for our members to tour, such as this one I wrote about last year. Friends recently bought a house right on the edge of Baltimore’s Inner Harbour and they’re allowing us to do a “hard hat” tour of it before the contractors come and and transform it. I had the chance to go see it today, and thought you might like a sneak peek at it.
This is the view from the roof deck. This is the same view from the ground floor. This is the view from what will become the living and dining rooms.
The owners are graciously allowing us to have a little fundraising tour of the house, so keep an eye out in this space and I will let you know the details! It’s going to be amazing to see this space.
I love the thought that you just pop into the City for a shopping spree! Always makes me think of Real Housewives of New York City - I am a bit ashamed to say I am hooked on this show at the moment!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing house - are they going to live there full time?
