When I started Pigtown*Design three years ago this week, I had recently moved back to Baltimore from Wales and was working for a friend’s family’s firm. His ancient father used to routinely throw pencils at people and call them jerks. Needless to say, it was not a happy and fulfilling environment in which to exercise my creative side. I thought a blog would be a good way to make sure that I spent time sharpening my writing skills and working on my photography skills. Thus, Pigtown*Design was born. As I begin my fourth year writing Pigtown*Design, I am stunned by all that this blog has brought into my life. I have met people whom I would never have known. I have had fun experiences with fellow bloggers. I have learned more than I ever would have imagined. I have seen some truly spectacular photography and read some stunning writing.
To say thanks, I am giving away a copy of “Decorating is Fun”. It is a 1941 edition, so not a first edition. It is in good shape, but does not have the original dust jacket, which is quite different from the one on the re-issue. (This is a mock-up of the original cover I did for a copy of this book that I sent to Marnie at MRR Design.)
If you leave a comment, I will put you into the drawing for a copy of the Decorating is Fun. Connor will draw a name on January 8th, the actual anniversary of my first post. He’s been pretty tuckered out from having his best friend stay here for four days, but I think that he’ll be sufficiently recovered by then to pick your name!
As always, thank you so much for reading Pigtown*Design.
Count me in! I'd love to own any edition of that book.
ReplyDeleteAren't tired dogs the best? We'd all be lucky to spend part of every day so content and care free. What the heck are they sleeping on anyway?
Congrats on your anniversary, Meg! Yours is one in the first handful of blogs I read regularly and that got me hooked on this whole bloggy business in the first place. So I guess it's partially your fault that my dishes don't get don't anymore.
I enjoy your blog. And your lovely dogs. Connor, pick me! Pat W.
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine is always saying a good dog is a tired dog.
ReplyDeleteI don't like to pander, but Connor, wake up and pick me!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary Meg!
You know, Connor doesn't even need to pick me. Just keep posting pics of his sweet mug and I'll be a satisfied reader!

Wow! Three years! Congratulations and looking forward to the next year.
ReplyDeleteLesson: never take a job from a family friend. I did and lived to regret it. The only job I ever quit...and he threw telephones. I also lost my friend, due to her husband's bad behavior.
ReplyDeleteMeg- I already have a copy, but did want to tell you that the cover mock-up looks great! How do you know how to do all of that??
ReplyDeleteI would love to own a copy of this book. Hopefully Connor picks me!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Happy Third - here's to many more!
ReplyDeleteSometimes, I feel like throwing pencils and calling people jerks. I guess there's a reason that I don't act on those impulses!
ReplyDeleteThe dogs look happy. Connor looks very much like my friend, Suzanne' lab. Cute, cute dog.
My dogs are enjoying the frigid weather, lounging atop the ice in the back yard.
Congratulations on hitting 3 years! That is quite the milestone! I love your blog and look to it for inspiration as we decorate and complete our house. Keep up the good work ;)
ReplyDeleteMeg- If you worked in Timonium three years ago, I might venture to say that we had the same boss!

ReplyDeleteJedi Knight says, "Pick me." :)
Congratulations on your anniversary. Reading your blog has made me want to explore Baltimore's neighborhoods, especially that book store you visit so frequently.
ReplyDeletemeg - that jacket cover you made for the book you sent my way was fantastic - I was so impressed that you were able to recreate the original - and your blog is a delight...especially the changing headers and varied content...good getting to know you.
ReplyDeleteMay I ask you what kind of rug the dogs are lying on?
ReplyDeleteIt looks to be a kind of high low geometric wool. Is it old?
Congratulations to you, Meg, and Pigtown D -- an inspiration to bloggers and design-lovers alike. Having gotten to know your eye, seen that book mock-up you did, and taken note of rotating header designs on your blog, I'm waiting for your first line of signature stationary and linens!

Dear Miss Meggie: I'm entering my name for the book. Since you're one of my daughter's "Aunties," that should count for something, right???? Oh, darned. That would make Connor a cousin, and family members are not allowed. (I assume there are some rules about who can/can't enter??) Anyway, it's a lot of fun when you have these drawings, whoever wins.
ReplyDeleteAnd - we'll have to celebrate your anniversary soon with a toast at one of your fave B'more haunts, OK?
- Miss M.A.

ReplyDeleteWonderful giveaway! This is one book I have never even looked at.
ReplyDeleteTwo and a half years ago, my mother-in-law took me to the Greenbriar for three days to relax and langor. I'd never heard of Dorothy Draper, but quickly became fascinated by her daring style. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm too late for the contest- but I've always wanted to read this book! On another note, your dogs are precious :)
