Capitulate - verb (used without object)
1. to surrender unconditionally or on stipulated terms.
2. to give up resistance
I capitulated after less than a week. I could not deal with looking into each and every drawer in my “card file” to find a bloody pair of shoes as I was racing out the door in the morning, with Connor tugging on his lead, and knowing that I was already late! So, this evening, I made up little cards for each pair of shoes housed in the file and stuck them in their assigned slots. They are in no particular order, but enough that it will only take me 20 seconds to find the right pair of shoes. I would rather be obsessive than late.
Makes sense to me....I guess unlabeled would have been like those memory mind games...might be good for the brain but highly annoying when in a hurry!
ReplyDeleteI love obsessive...
ReplyDeleteLOL and sigh of relief because I was about to offer to make labels for you! Or even more obsessive, scan shoe pictures onto the labels.
ReplyDeleteCan't keep Connor waiting - I like the look of the labels. Simple and classic!
ReplyDeleteLol, from a guy with OCD I am a big fan!
ReplyDeleteSavile Joe
you could take a picture of each shoe.
ReplyDeletehow about alphabetize next? I would have done the same thing!
ReplyDeleteHahaha! I've been circling back around to see if you would post a follow-up! Well played
ReplyDeleteHmph! You say obsessive as if it were a bad thing...
ReplyDeleteHow many drawers? Do tell ...
ReplyDelete30 drawers!!! I am still dancing around with happiness for this score! It's a great piece.
ReplyDeleteFANTASTIC!! SO ORIGINAL,I LOVE THE LABELS THEY HAVE A VINTAGY LOOK
ReplyDeleteMary Jane, I really fiddled with the font to use and thought this was a classic look.
ReplyDeleteAmazing....love this obsession Meg, xv.
ReplyDeleteWhat a stylish idea Meg! I love it. Unfortunately, for me, I would need a file cabinet for each pair.
ReplyDeleteLove it. I still vote for the "exotic" names for each pair to raise everyone's curiosity as to what's inside but I do love the whole look as it is.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was, "why not just put a photo in the slot"? Then I got to Tamra's comment. Oh, yes! Each pair needs a name....Then you could print the name in the colour of the shoe and sort them into columns by colour, alphabetically from top to bottom. OCD? Me? Nah!
ReplyDeleteOK... here's why i didn't do pictures of the shoes. I would have had to set up the light box, take the picture of each pair, download the pictures, edit them, put them into a format that would fit the little space and then print them and then cut each one out. Whew!
ReplyDeleteWith the names, all I had to do was create a little template and add the shoe name and print and cut. It was a massive time savings!
i like the idea with the names better than the shoe photographs. beside the time consuming all those colored images would look too busy, imho.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the black Meg.
