Ugh. I know that some people love house-hunting, but I am not one of those people. I don’t want a lot of projects in a new house, and I don’t want to renovate.
Of course, all of the houses I am marginally interested in have some fatal flaw. Like the dream place I found, where the co-op fees are going to exceed the monthly mortgage payment. Is that insane?
But this place has simply everything I want.
Olde Worlde Charm? Check. And check.Built-in bookcases? Check. Fireplace? Check. Hardwood floors? Check. Original details? Check. Huge rooms? Check. Bucket loads of storage space, including a cedar closet? Check it! Damn. Too bad about the excessive co-op fees. It’s well within my budget, too. I would have to get rid of those ghastly lights in the top few images, but still… Oh, and I think that there’s a kitchen in there somewhere, too.
OMG that place is amazing.....the bookcases, the closet, the molding and it looks like lots of natural light as well. Damn those condo fees.
ReplyDeletewow! what a great place!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful apartment! I could easily call that HOME!
ReplyDeleteThis one had me at the entry doors!
ReplyDeleteIt's the cats pajamas!
ReplyDeleteStunning. And the rooms are HUGE!
ReplyDeleteWOW!!!! no..really.....WOW!!! But, like you, the co-op fees would have blown my dress up over my head!!!! What a beauty, though.
ReplyDeleteAh, I know where you mean and was interested in them about 15(?) or so years ago when I considered moving to Baltimore. Rarely was there one for sale so I never got past the selling price into the condo fee. I guess charm has a lot of maintenance costs as I should know with our old Victorian.
ReplyDeleteBut darn..what a great place it would be.
My sister had those "ghastly" lights in her last house. They spray painted them with to look like aged bronze, and were much improved. Not bad for a Lowes' special.
ReplyDeleteBut I hear ya on the co-op fees.
Wow what a fantastic "canvas" to start with. What a shame the co-op fees are so ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteYeah, those fee would probably prove to be a fatal flaw--keep searching; the perfect home will make its appearance.
ReplyDeleteIt's a horribly frustrating process. I liked it with my first house. Not so much now. Soldier on.
ReplyDeleteQuel dommage. And we would've been neighbors, to boot! I recognized the building at the first pic.
ReplyDeleteKeep trying. Your dream house is out there somewhere.
Your patience will be rewarded. Nice molding there!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck for a speedy and perfect find.
It is lovely!
ReplyDeleteMeg,
ReplyDeleteWhere dat?
We are now at the Bross Hotel in Paonia, CO.
Nols
this is beautiful!!!!!! at least it's not 5 ft wide! this is so gorgeous - the possibilities are endless. we don't have those big co op fees here, unless you live in a highrise you have to pay those. this is gorgeous meg!!!
ReplyDeleteI have a good friend that lives in this building. She is a interior decorator and loves it as the area is great!!!
ReplyDeleteWell designed rooms & perfect flooring, spacious rooms...it's great experience to live in...
ReplyDeleteWondefully strange. Read about your blog in the paper this morning (Victoria, BC Canada) and was browsing the site and came across the photos of this suite. I just moved into mine two months ago, a heritage house.
ReplyDeleteLooked .... familiar ..... looked up and there is the same trim ..... in bedroom same closet folding louvre'd doors ..... long hallway ..... wooden floors.... similar fireplace mantle. Lovely serendipity.
