Thanks for all of your good wishes on my birthday. Lots of running around getting ready to leave, and finishing up projects at the office, but all-in-all, a great day.
In today's New York Times, there's a great article about Keith Irvine, who just celebrated his 80th - with a yard sale! That's one I'd loved to have gone to!
I'll keep you posted about my adventures in a day or two!
Happy Birthday Meg!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday AGAIN! I love a guy in a kilt LOL - he looks like he has some amazing stuff!
ReplyDeleteFabulous article...I just finished reading it...thanks the post. I love reading about characters!
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated Birthday!
ReplyDeleteI agree - what a garage sale that would be! LOL
I love that salty dog Mr. Irvine, and will go read the article now!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with Be The Change - I love a man in a kilt too (especially on a breezy day...)
xo xo xo
Oh yes, I cut this one out! Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteMr. Irvine’s first job in New York was with Sister Parish, whom he loathed. “Domineering old dictator,” he said. He lasted nine months, then set up his own business, with clients Mrs. Parish declined to work for, in 1959.
ReplyDeleteDescribing his own style, Mr. Irvine said, “I like an edge of grandeur, but I like it knocked down a bit.”
what an incredible man. i'm crazy about his definition of his own style! too brilliant!
