The Most Expensive Verizon Fix…Ever!

So, the guy from Verizon just left – he arrived about 3:30 p.m. I got several auto-calls from VZ, as well as a two-part text, all telling me that they would be at my house before 7:00 p.m. The service guy was delightful and apologized to me for VZ’s crap customer service. He told me that they hear it all of the time from people and that the frustration level with the customer service is out of this world.

As I was driving home from work yesterday, I realized that I didn’t have anything for breakfast this morning, because I usually pick up a bagel and coffee on the way to work. So I stopped at a store that I am unfamiliar with and had a little accident. v70silver The front part of my car, which is very low, got caught on one of those cement things at the end of the parking space and ripped my radiator’s bottom. Anti-freeze gushed out. It was horrible. I had to have the car towed to the service station.

So, with the two days of work that I missed and have to take vacation to cover, and this repair, the bad service from VZ has cost me a lot!!! I still hate them, even though my service is back on.

  1. That sucks. The front bumper on my car is low too.
Someone backed into my car this morning when I was getting coffee. Luckily he was going slow and I was stopped so he only hit my front bumper. What a day!

    Glad your internet is fixed.

  2. I would go directly to the beverage of choice and drink lots of it. Glad your service is back on. What a nightmare. My mother-in-law sad bad luck always came in three's. I think Connor's reaction to the 4th and having to drug him to get through our patriotic fervor counts as the third. Blue skies ahead!

  3. Oh no, Meg! So sorry about your car. Further adding to the cost, that's definitely going to require many more mojitos!
And I tell you, I have come to believe that getting our computers and online connections serviced has become the DMV experience of the 21st century. Worse even because you're rarely having a face to face encounter so you can't scowl in annoyance or grab your paperwork up and stomp off in disgust--not that I've ever done that! :)

  5. Call a priest, an exorcism may be in order. A smudging with sage at the very least.

  14. I hate days like that. And I've definitely done similar things to several cars. A night of relaxing and doing nothing will help. If its possible. We're all sending armloads of sympathy.

  15. When it rains, it pours. I've done the same thing to my car, but thank goodness that I never damaged the radiator cover. They need to get rid of those cement things.

  18. I have the same car and that happens to me ALL THE TIME and it makes me so frustrated!! I'm glad I'm not the only one ripping up her Volvo's front bumper! Arg! PS: How was the tag sale in Bolton Hill? Isn't that the house that's for sale?

  19. AD&R... I hit it all of the time, too. This was at the Rite Aid on MLK, so beware!

The yard sale was great. I blogged about it here. It didn't look like the house was for sale, but he's a realtor, so ya never know. It's a massive house!

  22. I Hate Verizon:
Before going to Venice in May, I bought (for more than $500),a new Blackberry Storm so I could deal w/a huge (for me) real estate sale. Well of course, no email or phone connection worked in Europe. I had to count on help from my friends who ALL have iPhones and the all worked perfectely. Guess what, verizon didn't really care just returned my $$$ which was not the point.
