I finally picked up my camera this afternoon and got the pictures of the floors in their “before” state. I think that once they’re sanded and stained, they will look great. I am pretty sure that they’re the original 1900-era floors because of the shrinkage of the wood.
This is the guest room floor. This is the workroom/office floor. Looks like someone was dragging furniture around! This is my bedroom floor. This floor is much darker than the other two floors. Funnily, I think that all of the floors are different woods.
I took a break from meetings, signing more papers and packing to go to the Second Annual Trunk Show at McLain-Wiesand. David’s staff used fabrics from the vendors - Donghia, Hines, Thibaut, Scalamandre, Schumacher and Zoffany – to make some fabulous fashions and put on a little fashion show (more when I get some pictures!).
One of the vendors, Scalamandre, had the MOST incredible tote bags, and I am giving one away to one of my readers. The bag has their iconic Zebra print and is made of a sturdy plastic/canvas material. Click the link for the story of the Zebra print. It’s a bright lipstick red and has classic black and white zebra print sides. And you also get a great Scalamandre tape measure! Just leave a comment mentioning your favourite Scalamandre print, and we’ll choose the winner on Monday, May 30th.
This might not count since it's not a print, but I love the bed curtains they recreated for Homewood!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool gift bag and that tape measure is fab! I have way too many favorites to pick just one. I do love so much of their toile! Happy Memorial Day weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteScalamandre have so many so very desirable designs but Gunga Din would be a gorgeous choice for many things. I love Precious Cargo and Bon Oeuf also for the fun they would bring.
ReplyDeleteThe Scalamandre bag is very striking!
Loving the progress on your floors - wise move though, taking some time to breathe as well.
AFRICAN TOILE would be great fun to design around!
ReplyDeleteToss up between Taipan and Yang TZE, maybe the two together.
ReplyDeleteThe floors have great promise and you are lucky to be getting to the project before you move in.
Love your house...such promise. My favorite print so far is Obi. So many choices, so little time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your new floors......what color are you going to stain them? I love all of your updates--makes me feel as if I were sharing in the adventure. Have a super week-end.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is Edwin's Covey!!! Love it!!
ReplyDeleteSo excited to see what you will do with your new home.
Congratulations!
Le Tigre! As a throw pillow or a seat cushion it will mix with literally anything! A truly universal neutral (even though people don't initially think of it that way)
ReplyDeleteI bought the big zebra print umbrella they sold on the Scalamandre site for my stepdaughter. She loves zebras and is a Pratte Art Institute grad. How great that they are doing additional products. The tape measure is so cute! Someone would certainly snitch it. Even the boring ones disappear on their own, like socks in the wash.
ReplyDeleteGood thing to get the floors done before you move in!!
ReplyDeletelove the bag, and I can never have enough tape measures!
Thanks
Love the bag...who would not love to carry that design!
ReplyDeleteYour floors will be fabulous....my house was built in 1897
and some of the floors were in bad shape.....once sanded and finished 25 years ago, they still look great today.
Also, we have different woods throughout the house.
Best wishes on your new home!!!!!!
I love this tote! And Scalamandre's Ming Circus is so wonderful I can barely stand it! They have so many it is hard to pin it down to only one that makes my eyes WIDE!
ReplyDeleteI love Tigre! Thanks so much for this great giveaway.
ReplyDelete"Neptunes Treasure" is my favorite- love, love, love it!
ReplyDeleteI like "luca"
ReplyDeleteI am a total sucker for either Le Tigre or Leopardo! On anything.
ReplyDeleteMy fave is the one on the bag. I love zebras and giraffes. :P
ReplyDeleteI love that Zebra print and would like to use the wallpaper in my next place.
ReplyDeleteSmarty
I have been fascinated with the zebra print since seeing it in "The Royal Tennenbaums". I would simply love a tape measure with the same print.
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed your recent posts on your new abode. I look forward to your future posts and your design of it.

So enjoyed the posting about Scalamandre--I even printed out the article about the Zebra print to read poolside this weekend!!! I can't tell you how many times I passed Gino's restaurant and peered in to admire that paper. I kept thinking that I would eat there one day and now sad to say, the restaurant is no longer there--it's a Sprinkles cupcake shop. Another New York institution gone...
ReplyDeleteAnd so, it is without hesitation that I nominate as my favorite Scalamandre print the very iconic...ZEBRA!!!
Sincerely,
Jennifer
