The weather has broken and it’s just gorgeous, with temps in the 70s and low humidity. YAY! It’s just the best kind of weather and the type that I love the most.
Today, I bought some cockscomb (Celosia cristata), which is one of those flowers people either love or hate. I think that they’re fascinating, and I bought a variety of orange, pink and red ones today. I put all three bunches in one big green urn. A lot of people think that cockscombs look like brains. Not me! We went to the Baltimore Summer Antiques Show on Saturday and of course, saw loads of stunning pieces. It was almost too much to take in at times, because there were just so many things. Not that Hermès bags are antiques, but I think that any one of these would have cost more than a set of china.
I had stopped by Halcyon House on Friday and fell in love with these amazing plates in several fantastic patterns.
The best thing about this is that it is unbreakable melamine! It looks like nice heavy rustic pottery, but it’s lightweight and classic.
There were also some sweet Victorian place card holders that couldn’t be more than 1.5 inches tall. The details were amazing. All in all, a great weekend!
The show was indeed overwhelming - it seemed bigger than last year but I was told otherwise. Very sorry to have missed you!
