The Dog Ate My…

As sweet and cute as my dog Connor is, he can also be a terror. Every so often, he gets a wild streak going and goes around rearranging things and tearing up papers. poor paris map 002I heard him downstairs the other night and came down to find that he’d shredded pages of my Turgot Plan de Paris! I had mounted it on the wall, but since the wall is plaster, and as the temperatures changed and the heat went off and on, it gradually came off the wall, piece by piece.poor paris map 004I finally removed it and had it on the floor to make sure the pieces were flattened before it went into storage in preparation for moving.poor paris map 005Anyway, it’s now in bits and pieces. And I am super peeved at Connor. 02-07-10 019

Bad dog.

  1. Judging by the amount of white on Connor's snout, I would imagine I would guess your lab and mine are around the same age. Mine still has puppy moments of getting into mischief as well. Sorry about your Turgot Plan de Paris, I hope Connor does something soon to get himself back in your good graces.

  2. Jamie... he's a rescue, so I am not sure how old he is. We think about 7 or 8. Just enough to be a punk, still!

  3. Oh no! After you went to so much trouble to get it! In Connor's defense, he must have gone a little stir-crazy being cooped up by snowmageddon. I know I would have lost my mind by now. And I'm sure if he could fix it for you, he would. Poor bad puppy.

  4. Aw, I bet he is so, so sorry!

Baxter has never shredded anything precious, but I have caught him slowly, methodically tearing paper or a napkin into strips. It was so funny to see his face when he got caught!

  5. Meg- Conner was just trying to 'help' you pack up the maps... it's just so hard to do without thumbs so he had to use his teeth;)
Who could be mad at that little pink nose?!!

  6. Someone put it to me this way - he didn't know it was important to you. I have a cat that likes to scratch furniture. He doesn't know it is important to me. And he barfs weekly, usually orange cat food onto off-white carpets. Not his fault. He doesn't know they are important to me. We are in hairball therapy now.

Poor Connor. I know you will love him through this, but sorry about your lovely map.

When do you move? Good luck, Terri xo

  9. OH NO!
Can you figure out what numbers he did this to?
I can take mine to kinko's and make you some copies of the messed up ones!

  10. Is this original, or your own copy? You can always reproduce from your own copy. The perils of pets...are outweighed by their joys?

  11. Annoying! But Connor looks very remorseful. Hope you find a new map - maybe you can get one next time you come to NYC! :)

  12. Oh no! Bad Connor - Sad Meg!
You know he was just helping/bored/being a dog. As my vet told me when Abbey was a puppy and chewy everything - there's a reason God made them so cute....I'm sure he feels bad.

  13. Oh poor Connor,.....he looks as though he is terribly sorry Mum?
I know he is beggin for your forgiveness.
    Look at that sad state!
Sorry Meg, I can so relate.

  15. That's the thing about a dog though. The minute they look sorry, you kind of have to forgive them. Mine is very interested in pulling things off edges... of table, kitchen counter... This has cost me several favorite items. He's also decided that if I use the bathroom for certain activities, so should he. Fortunately I hate that carpet, so after repotty training, its going. Connor was probably trying to get rid of any white things on the ground he could, in a fit of spring fever.

    Sorrrry!!! You too, of course!!

  20. Connor looks very remorseful--but maybe he is simply a good actor (like Jones). I guess we humans simply don't understand the pleasures of ripping something to shreds. Hope that your weather improves so that Connor can go running.

  21. My own puppies (not quite 2 yrs old) say congrats to Connor for finding something to shred and hopes he had a good time while doing it. This of course was sent via the doghouse they're confined to since they recently did something similar at our house.

  22. Oh I know you are frustrated with the ol'pup, but just look at that sulking face!!! Our lab passed away a few years ago and we still really miss him even though he pulled a similar stunt when he was a puppy. Came home one night to find he'd eaten a hole through the wall!!!!
