Tracking Billy Baldwin
At the lecture the other day, Jim Abbott mentioned the address where Billy Baldwin spent most of his childhood and young adulthood. It's just a few blocks from the house where I grew up. When I was uptown today, I decided to do a "drive-by shooting" and take some pictures of the street where Baldwin lived. If the address Jim mentioned is correct, this is the house. To my mind, it's one of the most beautiful blocks in all of Baltimore. These two houses are on the same side of the street from the one where Baldwin lived. I think I like this one the best. Which is your favourite?

Meg,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful neighborhood and how fortunate for you to have been raised in such a beautiful area. I took a peak at your family home...what a treasure. I have been following you for a while and enjoy what you post! I moved to the Atlanta area from Burke, VA (right next to Fairfax!) a year ago...I so loved that part of the country...so rich in history.
Will you email me the details on the April Foods Day, I want to get my post ready as I will be leaving town on the 1st.
Thanks and many blessings....
Wow, all of those houses are incredible. I'd have to say that my favorite is the last house. I don't know if it is the details over the third story windows or the porch, but that house is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThe second house for sure, it's that porch that does it for me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for thinking to get pics for all of us.
ReplyDeleteLove the bottom house. Curves & straight lines, deep porch. Ooooooh. A house to really be lived in.

Meg,
ReplyDeleteGreat houses, aren't they? Just beautiful.
What is the roofing material on the house with the reddish roof? Looks interesting.
#1 and #2- it's a toss-up. What a beautiful and charming neighborhood!
ReplyDeleteYes, they are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see the photos of the inside when he lived there compared with today (think you can finagle your way in?).
Oh how pretty -i love the one with the rounded dormers and porch over the entry! But they're all great!
ReplyDeleteMeg, what a charming neighborhood! The porch on the third house is so appealing that I’d say it’s my favorite too! Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteI love all three of them. What a great street. And what huge houses!
ReplyDeleteI love the second house and seem to have a memory of both homes when we lived in Guilford, Baltimore for a couple of years. Is this the suburb where these homes are located?
ReplyDeleteAnon... Roland Park.
ReplyDeleteAll lovely, but I think number three. Columns across the front. And a P.S. I love your changing masthead.
ReplyDeleteI think number two, although I love number three's porch...
ReplyDeleteSee Baltimore's STYLE magazine for this article last summer on the porches of Roland Park. At least one of the featured porches is on the same street as BB's house. http://www.baltimorestyle.com/index.php/style/home_garden_article/hg_rolandparkporches_ja08/
ReplyDeleteCatherine... we were laughing at that article, because they missed the most amazing porch in all of RP - the one on our old house!
ReplyDeleteThese are some good-looking porches though.
Good to see you last week!
I like Baldwins the best maybe. Hard to say, the three are gorgeous.
ReplyDeletemy fave is #3 - love the porch
ReplyDeleteAll are gorgeous, but that big porch on #3 is so welcoming - it seems to be inviting you right in. It feels a bit more casual than the others.

I'm not being very original, but it's the porch on #3 that gets my vote.
ReplyDeleteOOOoooooohhh. All three. wait.. maybe #1 and #3.
ReplyDeleteAll three are lovely, but my hands down favorite is #3......
ReplyDeleteI spent ten years in Balto. and never knew that Billy B. was a homeboy. Love them all - the first two photos make me think of the homes in Guilford or Charles Ave. Love the third, however - the porch totally gets me. R.P you say? Roland Ave?
ReplyDeleteNumber 3 for sure... beautiful house!
