Sunday was a crazy day, weatherwise! We had just left breakfast as the first flakes began to fall.
About a half an hour later, I let Connor out and was startled to see how much snow had already fallen.
It continued to fall all afternoon at rather an alarming pace – about an inch an hour! At the same time, the Ravens-Vikings game was beginning downtown…
While we’ve had many snowy days in Baltimore, we’ve never had it snow during a Ravens home game, and during any breaks in the action, snow plows tried to clear the field, so the players would know where they were!
If you didn’t watch the game, you missed an amazing last two minutes:
Meanwhile, back at my house, we toted up about four inches of snow, with another anticipated inch of ice on top of that, and from what I just heard, a thunderstorm. Oh, great.
I took advantage of being house-bound to work on my cashmere blanket project. I mistakenly thought it would take about a week to finish, but then I got an order for some of my cashmere scarves, so I’ve been working on them.
How was your weekend? How’s the weather where you are?
We had snow on Friday, too, but not nearly as much as you. Just as it stopped snowing, the power went out throughout the entire city. On Saturday, the weather turned bitterly cold (-15 with the wind chill factor) and stayed cold today as well. Several times yesterday and today I went outside with a kettle full of boiling water to dump on the bird bath and thaw it out so the birds would have drinking water.
ReplyDeleteat least it's not super cold here. it's hovering right around freezing.
DeleteIts been clear cold but bright which is refreshing but no snow. Snow completely halts the city so I wouldn't want it to snow quite yet but the snow looks beautiful. Connor is having a right ball :) Cant wait for the cashmere blanket project reveal!
ReplyDeleteWe're considered "southern" here, so snow stops us, too!
DeleteI thought I was going to have a heart attack during that game!
ReplyDeleteOMG! Me, too!
DeleteLooks like Connor loves the snow. Stay warm and safe and leave those icy streets alone!! Congrats to the Ravens.

Mary
He does like the snow!
DeleteAbsolutely incredible!! Also, I was impressed with the attendance considering the weather.
ReplyDeleteI was amazed at how many people were there, too. Friends left from Pasadena and almost turned around because the weather deteriorated so quickly, but they persevered.
DeleteMy Granny was a rabid Colts fan (Orioles, too). I remember listening to or watching Colts games with her as a child in the fifties and being infused with her excitement, despite my complete ignorance of the game and its rules. Though I'm not a football fan (despite a brief period in my twenties when I found it useful to know the game when chatting with potential beaus) I have never recovered from the departure from Baltimore of the Colts...just can't get used to the Ravens...pure nostalgia, this. I mean, I once met Johnny Unitas, after all. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was a sad day when the Colts were yanked out of town.
DeleteYowser, what a game! Towards the end of the 4th quarter I put on my rubber band ravens bracelet (gift from an 11 year old) and that's when the magic started to happen. I don't want to take full credit, but I think it helped!
