I know that some people don’t really like it when I post about Connor, so if you’re one of those, just click onto the next blog and come back tomorrow!
Connor’s about 13-ish now, so I feel that there aren’t many years left for me to have him around. He’s been a great companion over the seven years I’ve had him, although he’s caused his fair share of trouble, and yes, damage!
So I thought I’d give you a year of Connor, and you can choose which is your favourite image. I know which one mine will be!
In January, our friends Wendy and Ellie (a golden retriever) came to stay with us and Ellie ate Connor’s toys. Not really a problem, since Connor’s only interested in one or two of them, which we kept away from Ellie.
Connor loves to lie on his back. None of my/our other dogs have done this. He also likes to be against things, which I guess makes him feel more secure.
March brought a late-winter snowfall, and Connor loved playing in it.
Connor also loves to be under things.
I’ve noticed that Connor sleeps much of the time now, and he especially likes to sleep outside.
Connor tries out the little settee that I bought at auction. I think this is the first and last time he got on it.
Connor’s got beautiful deep black eyes. I look at him sometimes, and hope that he’s happy.
I think that Connor’s always happy when the cooler weather arrives. He’s a double-coated lab, so he’s got tons of hair!
And he loves his pigs. He’s got a few. Yes, I know that the wall’s dirty. Dog footprints don’t help.
Connor’s modeling the beautiful Fortuny dog collar our friend Becky Vizard made for him!
A hotspot in November, the time this usually happens, made me put the Cone of Shame on Connor. Pitiful, isn’t he?
More snow! An intense snowfall that lasted two hours, but dumped about six inches on us!
And of course, our Christmas card pictures. Completely disinterested. A total disaster.
He’s happiest with his baby and me close by and is living out his golden years quietly.
Thanks for indulging me!
Totally charming.
ReplyDeleteI wish you and Connor a lovely, healthy new year!
xo
And to you all, as well!
DeleteI love Connor posts. He reminds me so much of our dear departed Lily. Wishing all the best for you and Connor in the new year.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary! Scout and Nigel are pretty cute, too!
DeleteHow could anyone object to posts about Connor? Think my favorite picture is him in the sun with his baby - and with you. Hoping that 2014 will be the best year yet for both of you.
ReplyDeleteI am certain I don't know how anyone at all could object!
DeleteCan you hear me oohing and aahing from Arlington? Thought so. Of course he's happy! He has a wonderful life with you and he's world famous.
ReplyDeleteWhat a handsome devil. He wears his years well.
xo J
He and I thank you for your kind words! He's very dignified!
DeleteHe is adorable! I love old dogs!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteConnor is beautiful! Such a sweet post. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Paloma! Happy New Year to you!
DeleteMeg, I love that beautiful old dog!!! I love that he has a wonderful life of safety and comfort in his twilight years. I love these pictures of him and his escapades that you share. I love that you know what a treasure you have and that you recognize that every moment is golden now. Thank you for allowing Connor to bless those of us who welcome it. I pray for continued good health for both of you in 2014. You are such a great pet owner and he is so lucky that you chose to rescue him. You have clearly enriched each others lives beyond measure. Happy New Year!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much, Vickie! That means so much to me!
DeleteThese little creatures might cause some messes but they bring us so much love . . don't they. My "Buttons" (pit/rot mixed) just as naughty but I wouldn't have it any other way. My baby is in her golden years also and sleeps most of the time too. Love and take care of Connor, from one dog lover to another :O)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sandy. Keep your Buttons well, too!
DeleteI think he makes an excellent watch dog. He seems very good at watching things. Perhaps the time he got out on the roof he needed to get a better view to watch stuff. He also is good at subduing gutters. It was your dog that subdued the gutter-- or do I have it mixed up with another/different gutter subduing dog. Anyway, I do enjoy these Connor calling posts.
ReplyDeleteYes, it was Connor who subdued the gutters... and all of the vinyl mini-blinds!
DeleteHowe can anyone resist him? Such a sweet boy with his toys.
ReplyDeleteI can't think of who could resist him!
DeleteI LOVE Connor posts. Has he ripped down any venetian blinds lately? A new vet has recommended a cooling bed for our 13 yr old Lab. Said it would feel good and help the joint stiffness. I think you have one of the best blogs going. Really. Enjoy you so much. Ann
DeleteI would have recommended the same. Then in this snowy weather he'll have a faux cool ground choice inside - when he wants to get out from under blankets. He's a beautiful lucky dog and he knows it to be true! :-)
DeleteSo sweet! Was he the runt of the litter? My brothers puppy was and does the same things like lean and go under. I think he looks very happy Meg!
ReplyDeleteCSW... I got him when he was between 4-6, so I don't know his history. He was a rescue dog.
DeleteWhat a beautiful boy. You are lucky to have each other. For those who don't like Connor photos I say go directly to Hell and do not pass Go.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am quite lucky to have him.
DeleteConnor is the best! Happy new year to you both!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
DeleteI love all of your Connor posts.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Meg and Connor--Jones says "hi", also.
xoxo Mary
Happy New Year to you and Jones!

Angela Muller

DeleteI love every single one! Happy New Year to you both.
ReplyDeleteThanks, hon! You, too!
Deleteall I can say is awe! Hope you and Connor have a very Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteYou, too!
DeleteI LOVE anything dog. We have three two legged children and four - four legged children (2 cats, 2 pit bulls) and I love them all the same. Our four legged ones give us so much and ask for so little. I will never understand how anyone can be cruel to anything. Keep sharing Connor and I wish him and you a Healthy New Year.
ReplyDeleteYou're right about how much they give us... unconditional love!
DeleteAdorable!! My favorite photos are the ones with his pink pig .... Best wishes to both of you for a Happy and Healthy 2014!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Jan at Rosemary Cottage
He does love his pigs!
DeleteHe is such a loving companion and he just knows you love him back. As far as the damage goes, it couldn't be Connor without that! Enjoy those golden years with him. After all, he is family. Here's to a happy, healthy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and the family, Bonnie!
DeleteWell, all the photos of connor are delicious + why are doggies so photogenic? Happy new year dearest to you + connor + "his golden years", aren't you just the sweetest. xxpeggybraswelldesign.com
ReplyDeleteWho could be disinterested in posts about such a handsome, sweet dog! Connor looks like a wonderful companion. All the photos of him are great, but my favorite photo is the one of him outside with his head resting on one of his toys (6th photo up from the bottom). I'm sure he's a very happy boy. Dogs are the best!
ReplyDeleteClaudia
I LOVE posts about Connor!! He is the image of our Winslow (gone these past 14 years) right down to his pink nose.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
I'm mushing my face against the computer screen making smoochy noises.
ReplyDeleteI love Connor. He seems like such a sweet guy.
ReplyDeleteLove the Connor posts! I have 2 beagles that rule the roost, so your stories about Connor are a happy spot. My favorite 2 photos of him are the last one and the 6th from the borrom. Happy New Years, and I hope you have many more with Connor.
ReplyDeleteWHO doesn't like Connor posts? I can't get enough, even with this glut of photos! My favorite? All wonderful except for the sixth one from the bottom: Connor snoozing in the sun with his toy. To me, this is Lab heaven. And, Meg, I believe Connor is a happy, happy dog. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteI love this. I have a 3 year old white lab who destroys his toys in 5 minutes, sleeps all the time, except at night and is all around horrible but I love him.
ReplyDeleteI wish you would do a Connor post every day.
Connor posts are your BEST posts. Please let us have more of Connor's pics and tricks in 2014!
ReplyDeleteI have a 7 yr. old Newfi & a 1 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel & a 10+ year old cat who rules the roost! I love your Connor postings. A home without a history of life lived…i.e.dog prints on the walls…can be an empty shell. It can also be just right for someone. Vive la difference!

Always love your Connor posts. Yep, let the non dog lovers move on and come back another day. Thanks for a gret blog.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you Meg!
ReplyDeleteWhy on earth would someone not like a Connor post? They are my favorite! My dog is 13 and I also look at her and wonder if she is happy. I think she is as I am sure that Connor is too. Thank you for sharing your wonderful pup with us.
