When I saw this house with its 17th century exposed beams, stone floors and vaulted ceilings, I thought it would be perfect! ReplyDeleteOK GG... I am not wild about the decor of the rest of the house. But that fireplace in the lounge is wonderful and it looks very spacious! The gardens and the little wier are great, too.

ReplyDeleteHaving spent some time in an 11th century cottage in Sussex (January to past Easter one year) , I came to the conclusion that if I were wealthy and could afford to live anywhere in the world, it would be in Sussex, England - obviously Devon is very lovely too - what beautiful beautiful countryside!
ReplyDeleteBack in days of yore, Chilham Castle, Kent, was owned by my stepfather's family, and, at one time,Bourne Park (a manor house I guess you'd say) in the town of Bishopsbourne, also in Kent - don't know in whose hands it now resides. Your posting is bringing it all back!

The house is disjointed and lacks continuity. The lovely beamed living room is not followed into the kitchen where the beams are painted. The house needs a loving interior designer to pull it together. The kitchen is really pretty awful, Aga or no Aga.
