First Class Mail

Before I show you the rest of Flip's house, I thought I'd share the new series of stamps issued by the UK's Royal Mail. They celebrate classics of British design over the last 60+ years. Here are a few.

Aren't they great looking?

  4. Lots of wonderful iconic images here. I've always loved the orange covers of Penguin books. I have a little pile in one of my bookcases that I'm finished with but haven't managed to pass along yet because I just like the way they look.

  5. What a great series! Did you see the ones put out last year here in the US about the mid century designers? I never got to see those really...

  8. British stamps are always well designed. This is a fantastic series. The annual Christmas stamp series is also worth collecting. Cool post. HTJ.

  9. Tweed... I had a set from a few years ago that were christmas puddings that were great. Also ones of country lanes.

These stamps are also the "evergreen" ones, with no monetary value on them, so that when the price changes, the stamps are still good. We're finally doing that here, too.

  10. First class is right!

A set framed would be fun... I have a friend who has some lovely WWII aviation stamps framed in a powder room.

  11. What great stamps, much more interesting than most. More and more stamps seem to be issued to appeal to the collector's market; though it's nothing new, it must be a higher percentage than in years past with declining postal volume.
