David's Front

Some people have asked for images of the front of David's house. Since he literally lives above the store, it's not really an architectural gem. His shop and workshops take up the entire first floor of the building and also a garage space to the right of the building. There's an additional space off the back of the second floor with a sloping roof. This is probably where the two rooms with the beamed ceilings are. This was a "drive-by" shooting and the light was turning green, so I didn't have a chance to take too many pictures. The top image is from December, when David's space was on the neighbourhood's holiday walking tour.
The neighbourhood where David's shop is located is one of the most historic and elegant in the city. It's an area filled with gorgeous townhouses, museums and super restaurants. Check back for a tour of another house, right around the corner from David's space. The owners have an incredible sense of style and have used a lot of salvage pieces in their decor.

  1. The building may not be an architectural gem, but it ain't half bad either. Personally, I dig those heavy duty 19th century brick buildings. They're indestructable and, as your friend has shown us, adaptable to so many uses in the right hands.

  2. I agree with Giuseppe - what an interesting place to live - and the neighborhood isn't too shabby either!

  3. Love it. In an alternate universe surely I live in a brick row house above my shop.
