I've been a fan of Dominick Dunne for ages, and just recently re-read his book "The Way We Lived Then: Recollections of a Well-Known Name Dropper" which was the 60's American version of Everybody Was So Young. He died today after a long illness.I've always loved his investigative pieces in Vanity Fair, especially his observations of some of the notable trials of our day. He was smart, funny and very interesting.
Mr. Dunne will be missed by the thousands of fans of his writings.
Rest in Peace Dominick, I will truly miss your articles and television expose's.
ReplyDeleteI had not heard the news yet. That makes me really sad. I will miss his Vanity Fair contributions.
ReplyDeleteWhat a day. What a day.
ReplyDeleteI have read all his books and am a keen follower of his columns in Vanity Fair - he will truly be missed, xv.
ReplyDeleteOh I hadn't heard this yet. I have really enjoyed his articles, esp. in VF. What a contributor he was.
ReplyDeleteYes, this is really quite sad - his monthly article in VF was always my favorite!
ReplyDeleteSo many losses this year.
ReplyDeleteHe had a good voice when he wrote. Easy, breezy, serious and comic. I bet he would've been a delight at a dinner party.
ReplyDeleteOh, I’m most upset and sad as I have always loved his show “Dominick Dunne’s Power, Privilege and Justice” I always loved true crime tv and his documentaries always had that extra “je ne ce qua” ( I don’t know exactly what it was…) that made his shows more appealing and suspenseful and interesting to watch. My true condolences to his family and friends. Dominick, you will be missed!!!

ReplyDeleteand i never knew that was his son!

ReplyDeleteIt point of view was fantastic and his sense of style, irreplaceable.
ReplyDeleteMeg...I saw him once at Claridges in London but it wasn't appropriate to say hello. I loved him and had rehearsed a million times what I wanted to say to him if we ever met. I'm sure I woulda goofed it up.

Meg - I think his death was a bit overlooked because of all the attention focused on Teddy. Thanks for mentioning him - he seemed like a great guy, so talented, stylish yet down to earth. You just knew that he would have been the most charming guest at a dinner party.
