The publishers of Mary Kay Andrews’ newest book, Spring Fever, graciously sent me an advance copy of the book, which, by the way, is now available in your local bookstore.
I read it and loved it, and promised to give it to one of my readers. I chose someone who’s been reading Pigtown*Design for a while now, and who always leaves pithy comments. She writes the blog Mental Meatloaf and her name is Marcheline! Pop me an e-mail with your address and I will post is over the weekend.
We’re all ready for the book signing event at Woodbourne and there’s still room on the porch if you’re in Baltimore and you’d like to join us. I’ve whipped up a batch of my infamous Eastsides* and have made some Lilly Pulitzer print bunting for one lucky gal to take home. I spent part of the morning attaching grass-skirts to pink flamingo table cloths. The weather’s looking iffy, so pray for NO RAIN for the event.
Eastsides (This is the low-rent version of the much more elegant and storied Southside Cocktail.)
2 cans of frozen lemonade
1 can of frozen limeade
Handful of mint
Club Soda
Rum
Mix the lemonade and limeade at about 1/2 to 2/3 strength. Wash the mint and take a handful of it and twist it to release the oils. Immerse in the lemon/limeade mixture. Chill. Add ice, rum and club soda. Garnish with mint. Drink. A lot. It’s perfect for a hot day and goes down very smoothly.
Congratulations, Marcheline + thank you, Meg. xxpeggybraswelldesign.com

Have you ever been at GSVHC when they rent the Slurpee machine and run Southsides through it? NIRVANA.
