Do You Like Downton Abbey?

If watching Downton Abbey wetted your appetite for living on a grand scale, this is the estate for you. pusey02 copy Current owner, Cadbury heiress Felicity Loudon and her husband John, are selling the Pusey estate in Faringdon at an asking price of £27m to fund the launch of a chocolate company to rival Cadbury’s. The estate includes a grade II-listed Georgian house with 14 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, pusey04 copy a stable block, pusey10 two cottages and three staff flats sitting in 75 acres of parkland.pusey03 copyI am sure there are more rooms than you can ever use, and here are some of them.

Someone must have had a thing for the colour blue…pusey09 copyOr red…  And I am kind of wondering what those two huge champagne flutes with flowers are all about!pusey08 copyThe gardens are lovely.pusey14 copy   I do like these images.pusey05 copyThis combines two of my favourite things – a dog and one of those amazing Bourbon roses!pusey15 copy For more details, look here.

  1. Now that is gorgeous. Looks to be in move in condition, too! Does the price include the furnishings?

  3. Hank Stuever in The Post described Downton Abbey as "lifestyle porn for Anglophiles". Your posts on castles and country houses are kinda like that. We all need our fix, no?

  4. Wonderful images. It looks like those interior design and lanscape are taken in a palace or well known house of celebrities. I love it.

  12. I LOVE Downton Abbey!!! I look forward to it every week, it's so yummy you could eat it. A more ruthless Upstairs Downstairs. Actually, I was screaming at Hugh Bonneville's character in the first episode -- I hated so many of the characters, they were so cruel and conniving -- until the last minute when he finally pulled Mr. Bates out of the car. Whew! Close one. And now we see that the youngest daughter also has a good heart.

Anyway, it's great, and yes, Masterpiece Theatre always whets my appetite for a grand lifestyle I know I'll never achieve!

  13. I am just loving....watching this and hate to see it end each week.
Did you know they have done a new version of Upstairs Downstairs (nothing...will be as good as the original!) that is to air in April? I think it's four installements.

  14. Does the 27 million GBP include lifetime salaries for staff? That's what really calls to me about "Downton Abbey". Having people whose job it is to think of my comfort. That is true luxury.

  16. I am currently rather obsessed with Downton Abbey - can't wait until tomorrow! And this is quite the estate - the gardens are gorgeous and I love the entry shot and what looks to be entry hall. Would be rather daunting maintenance!
