My Dog

My dog Connor is so strange.
I live in a house that was built in the 1880's and I am never quite confident of the water pipes, as I am sure they are lead-lined. So I tend to drink bottled water. It becomes a battle of wills between me and the dog. As I drink, he sits and stares at me. All he wants is the bottle.
Once I am finished, I throw the empty bottle down the hallway and he romps after it and begins the process of taking it apart, bit by bit. Once he's gotten the plastic pieces off, then he starts on the label. It's a great source of entertainment for him.
This dog has quite a selection of toys, including several iterations of "Lambie" and a pink pig. But what he likes the most is a plastic water bottle. That counts for recycling, doesn't it?

  1. Connor thanks you for your kind words. He's noble, but a little odd. I didn't get him until he was about five, so who knows what happened before that!

  2. Or as a designer might say, the plastic bottle has been REPURPOSED as a dog toy!

  4. What beautiful eyes he has! We had a dachshund who pretty much ate an entire full size electric blanket, little by little once. It just kept getting smaller, yet there were no shreds of blankie around. Talk about being little off! He also used to run headlong (blankie trailing) right into the brick wood box (thunk!).

  5. I think it is a boy thing. My dog loves shredding plastic - the noisier the better. Have you seen those toys resembling stuffed animals but you slip a plastic bottle into it and when the plastic is destroyed, you can slip it out and put a new one in?

  6. Our dog does the exact same thing, glad to know there is another plastic-punishing-pup out there. Such a cutie, that Connor!

  7. He's so handsome. Oh, and my dogs have a pink pig toy. He was the replacement for blue bunny, after blue bunny had his head nearly removed. Then, as I recall, blue bunny was the replacement for an earlier version of pink pig. And, so it!

  11. My dog prefers number 2 plastic only. He will condescend to play tug of war with me, but the bottles need to be destroyed. Don't you love watching them prance around and kill the thing?

  13. My dog Jack (god rest his bad dog soul) used to like stripping all the felt off a tennis ball. Same idea as pulling the label off, I think -- skin the bunny.

And does Connor have the sweetest face ever, or what?

  15. We ditched the bottles for a home distiller system. It is the best water I have ever tasted. As for dog chews, our dog loved the paper rolls off of paper towels or gift wrapping. He had a little stuffed "human" he was found of carrying in his mouth and making the most mournful sounds. Connor must be in heaven to be under your loving care at last.

  16. Connor has a pink pig that he sometimes takes for walks when we go. He carries it in his mouth until he has to pee, and then he just abandons it, and i end up carrying it!
