Oh, dear. I guess OKL didn’t learn their lesson with the expensive tennis racquets that I wrote about months ago. Now they’ve got two badminton “rackets” for sale for $112 for the pair. That’s more than a 50% savings off of the original $245 price tag. The funniest thing is that the racquet presses for these two badminton racquets are really for tennis racquets. The are not guards, as it says in the description, they’re presses, so the wood doesn’t warp. These presses are way too large for the significantly smaller badminton racquets.

Always enjoy your pithy comments on OKL, I remember the rocks.
ReplyDeleteI think that the rocks were the beginning of the end for me.
DeleteI love you calling out OKL, Meg! Some of these are quite funny!

I have been trying to be nicer lately! HA!
DeleteI don't know whether to laugh or cry at the waste. Sold out? I guess the rest of us will have to look in attics, thrift stores and yard sales for mismatched, old badminton rackets in tennis presses. ~ Maureen
ReplyDeleteI was just at the local thrift at lunch and there were racquets galore. All for less than $3.00!
DeleteYour eagle eye is at it again, OKL's bad! xxpeggybraswelldesign.com
ReplyDeleteThis one was easy to spot!
DeleteYou just never know what will sell and at what price!! I'm on OKL--have sold a couple of good painting at way below auction prices. But then I have had other really great items at super prices not sell. But used rackets?? Please.........

I have a friend who used to say that you can't wear the shoes if you don't do the sport, so I think that you can't have the equipment on your walls if you've never played. And really, how many people play badminton? We used to because my mother was a killer player and they had a court at her house when she was growing up.
DeleteI'd make an exception to that rule to wear very cool table tennis shoes. If they made water polo shoes, I'd wear those too. Love eccentric casual footwear. :o)
DeleteWho knew that there were specific table tennis shoes?
DeleteLove this- I have never seen anything at OKL that I would catch if you threw it at me- Who buys this stuff? What do they do with it? and Why? boggles the mind-
ReplyDeleteLove that expression! I will throw something next time I see you!
DeleteI thought just this morning that I needed to unsubscribe from their emails but then I'd miss those entertaining sales! The prices are, of course, ridiculous but it's fun to see things I used to have.
ReplyDeleteAs I've said before, I have gotten some great things from OKL, especially books. But things like this make me laugh. Out loud!
Deletewait? someone BOUGHT them? thats the more surprising part! Free market, they can ask what they want, but it shocks me someone buys them!
ReplyDeleteI like to buy cheap and sell cheap!
DeleteI wonder when the first metal tennis racquets will become vintage?
ReplyDeleteI remember my first big-headed Prince racquet.
DeleteA birdie in the hand is worth....?
ReplyDeleteVery clever!
DeleteI think they put this stuff out there just to make us laugh.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me laugh, that's for sure! Or maybe it makes me cry because I could be selling my stuff for so much more $$$.
Deleteor to make them laugh at us ! saw some 18th C glass with a "flea bite", that means tiny bit of damage I presume. They did it again got me to check the site !
DeleteHysterical! I bet they have sold?
