Rain, Rain Go Away!

We’ve had inches of rain here today, and all of my pots with the wee-est peeks of herbs poking out of them are submerged.

It was a day for this:barbour stockman's coat My long Barbour Stockman’s coat with all sorts of snaps, straps and flaps. It does keep me dry, even though it weighs a good five lbs.

My Blunnie boots, which keep my feet really dry.blunnie boots I do love my tall black boots, but not in this weather.

A great umbrella. This one is from J. Peterman, and I just saw it in their catalogue. umbrella 1I have a gorgeous red umbrella with the most interesting architecture, but surely it wasn’t meant for a day like today!

The entire outfit was topped off with an old Mt. Gay Rum hat from some long ago regatta. mt. gay hat Uh… not this one.

I hope the sun is shining where you are!

  7. I admired that umbrella in the latest J.Peterman catalog. Red is definitely my color ;) J.Peterman used to (and perhaps still does) have a shop on eBay where they sold items from previous seasons. About 4 or 5 years ago I purchased a stunning J.Peterman silk blouse with intricate embroidery and fabulous beading and rhinestones from their eBay store for $10. I ended up giving it to a friend because it was a tad bourgeois and decadent for me (being Hugo Chavez and all...) but it was a steal. If you wait until next season you might find that umbrella on eBay at a fraction of the cost. It might be worth the wait. Peterman's items are fairly classic and don't ever really go out of style... except for perhaps the Urban Sombrero :)

  8. I love my Barbour jacket. Its the style with a million pockets, shorter than a coat and longer than a jacket.
Just wondering if you've ever had yours rewaxed or if you rewax it at home?

  9. Meg, I'm wondering just how heavy those boots are. I've become so accustomed to lightweight shoes and boots these days.
