First, thanks so much to everyone who left a comment about The Nate Berkus Show! It was very exciting to appear on the show, especially for that amount of time. Here are two clips from the show. One is me talking about my Rule of Three and in the other, I am talking about my favourite finds. I have to say thank you to Nate and his production crew and stage crew who could not have been nicer to me and made me feel so comfortable. Nate’s a good guy and surrounds himself with like-minded people.
Thanks also to my friend Tracey, who came to NYC with me as my sherpa! We had so many things with us that we looked like the Beverly Hillbillies arriving in New York. Tracey owns Housewerks, where we had the Tasteful Tag Sale Flea Market. She’s the one grinning on the right. I was so glad that she came along with me!
The Tours de Baltimore that were scheduled for this Friday and Saturday have been postponed. I am so sorry for the late notice. I have come down with a wicked cold and have a major project due on Friday, so I must be at the office to complete this and turn it in. Saturday is the running of the Baltimore Marathon, and the traffic is going to be horrific. I am going to look at some dates in mid-November, possibly Thanksgiving weekend. Any thoughts?
The Billy Baldwin lecture on Saturday was incredible, and I will write about it later this week. I had a chance to chat with Adam Lewis, the author of the new BB book, and now I am even more excited to read it.
Hi Meg,
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better soon. Congrats again.
Look forward to the BB review.
Cheers,
Marjorie
Meg! What a treat for you and for us! Loved the interview with you.
ReplyDeleteI don't get to watch much daytime tv so thanks for posting the link.
I'm a loyal reader and I think a first-time commenter. I was positively thrilled when I read your previous post about your appearance on the Nate Show, but am even more delighted now that I've seen these clips. I'm not just saying it to be polite, but you are such a natural. You look like an old pro and the on-air chemistry between the two of you was really obvious. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why you used someone else's phrase, "The Junk Whisperer." You credit him here but you did not credit him on the show, which is going to be seen by far more people than read your blog.
ReplyDeleteJust today, the originator of the phrase used it on his blog. He's clearly still proud of it.
Why couldn't you come up with something original?
Wow! what a full day. Great job on Nate's show! !! Thanks for the heads-up re: this weekend (I was still wavering between Fri and Sat since I have to be in Towson on Sat). Marathon- eek. Will now know to drive around the beltway and not up 83!
ReplyDeleteMeg,
ReplyDeleteHope you return to the Nate Berkus Show!!!!Really enjoyed your segment with Nate on his design show. Your positive energy made me want to go with the two of you to the next flee market!!!In fact I was feeling so "at home", something was so familiar that it wasn't until you mentioned "Chesapeake Bay" that I realized why: Even though I now live in New York,I grew up in Baltimore (Towson Senior High and all..)Baltimore is
rare vintage and an incredible find. And so are you.
Yeah, Baltimore and congratulation to you. Cheers, E.
So great Meg! Loved seeing the beautiful pin you found too!
ReplyDeleteI just saw you on the Nate show and really enjoyed your segment!
ReplyDeleteI had to Google your name when I saw your MOM's bag as I knew you must live close-by. How exciting to find your blog, I'm really looking forward to following it. Thanks for your tips and tricks and may you find many more treasures among your hunts!
Anon @ 22:36... As I explained in a long e-mail to the person in question, I do not have any control over what the original Sun reporter wrote, and what the NB show is saying about me. I told them both that I did not originate the term, and that someone else did, but they chose not to write/show that, so there is not anything more that I can do.
ReplyDeleteThere are many earlier citations of Junk Whisperer than the person in question, including one in 2008 in Country Living magazine. There's even a book called "The Junk Whisperer".
He knows that the use of the term is not in my control. It's what others have tagged me.
I enjoying watching the clip of your television appearance and reading about your NYC adventure. I can't believe you met Bunny Williams! So jeal......
ReplyDeleteMeg, I so wish I could've seen you on the show! But though his site lists WBAL as carrying it in Charm City, it certainly didn't show up that way on my TV. Apparently BAL has a sister channel (all this digital double-duty sh*t that I don't understand), and if you can get that companion channel, you can see it. But we can't (we have DirecTV).
ReplyDeleteAlso, am I missing something here? You said you posted two clips from the show, and one of the commenters here said she just watchd the clips. But when I click on the picture, all I get is a page of the picture. Did you post video and I'm just not able to access it for some reason?
Anyway, as I said before, congrats and brava to you! Don't forget us little people when you hit the big time!
Go Meg! Super congratulations.
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS MEG!!! What a great segment and what wonderful exposure. Loved it. Get better soon-
ReplyDeleteDear Miss Meggie: Anytime someone has success, there is always another person who wants to snipe. OF COURSE there was a book called the "Junk Whisperer," published some years ago, probably WAY before the other person in question started using the term. And, if the other person would've become famous first, he/she could've used it before you did!!
ReplyDeleteDon't spend any more time on answering insane sniping messages. We who know you know the truth, and think you're absolutely fabulous and deserving of this wonderful recognition in your life.
May you enjoy the good things coming your way -- you deserve them!!
You were fabulous on the show; so calm and comfortable and well spoken. Good for you. And Meg, you are NOT a junk whisperer you are a junk shouter and more power to you.
ReplyDeletei loved the segment; my hubby did too. Can't wait to see as a repeat guest.
ReplyDeleteMeg!!!! You were AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAND BEE-YOU-Ty-FULL!!!!
Quite agree with most of the previous comments - you were absolutely fabulous. So eloquent and most importantly... seemed completely in your element. Congratulations!!! xoxoxox
ReplyDeleteSeriously sad we couldn't watch you in charm city but thrilled to see the clips! You were SOO great. Feel better soon! Wish you lived in Stone Hill so I could have brought you mushroom risotto to warm your soul! All the best rewards to you my dear. So happy the tour is moving. The race will be hell on wheels! Xoxo
ReplyDeleteWOW, Meg!!! What a natural you were on the show! I would have been so nervous and my mouth would have been dry...The girls kept saying "Yeah, that's my aunt!" Can't wait to see more. Luv ya!
ReplyDeleteIt was my pleasure to be along for the ride. I'm smiling in that image because I was just so so proud of you!
ReplyDeleteMeg!!!!! I loved these clips. I have been so out of the loop, working on the new house, and am checking in on my favorite blogs...to find that you are now a celebrity! You are a total natural, and I loved watching you banter with Nate.
ReplyDeleteHi Meg - I've been slow on the draw lately & missed all this excitement. This is wonderful news & I cannot imagine how exciting it must of been to be part of Nate's show. I have been taping them & have not gotten a change to watch one yet. Now, I'm watching tonight. So thrilled for you Meg. Congrat's!
ReplyDeleteMeg how much fun is this!?!?!? I hope that we can download our segments and put them on our blog, too! Isn't it a fantastic experience? And you were on more than once! WOW! Plus the blogging for him ... you're a superstar! I hope I look good on tv ... eeek! How long did it take from taping to air time for you? They haven't gotten back to us on the air date yet. Isn't Nate Berkus SOOooooo cute!??! Anyway, had a blast - and how much fun that we can share this! :) All the best!
