It's Oscar Night!

This is the first year that I haven't seen any of the Oscar-nominated Best Picture selections. I would like to see Slumdog Millionaire because I just love that Bollywood-style music. I am going to one of the officially-sanctioned Oscar parties across the country and it's benefitting an AIDS charity where several friends serve on the board.
I am taking a cue from Mrs. Blandings and wearing her classic outfit of crisp white shirt, turquioise jewelry and a ball-skirt. I am adding a gorgeous cashmere shawl I bought in London a few years ago.
Who are your picks to take home the statuette?

  1. Meg, You will look very classic and sophisticated in that outfit. I love the turquoise necklace (very unique) and Shawl. Have fun!

  3. Very pretty outfit. The Oscar night gala here (Atlanta) is in our county and supports the family resource center. For the first time they are having it in our gorgeous new performing arts center. It would be fun to go, however, I'm so not a movie buff that I'd just have to dress up, eat and leave because I wouldn't be able to watch the Oscars that long without channel surfing!

I haven't seen any of the movies. Dullsville here.

  4. A great choice - though I can take no credit for the look as I have borrowed it as well. I am a big fan of those shawls. As a great coat-hater they are the perfect solution for all but the most frigid days. Have fun - who cares who wins when you get to get dressed up!

  5. I just returned from an Oscar fundraiser for AIDS in Sacramento which was a great success and lots of fun. There was a young man named Dustin Lance Black who gave a very courageous acceptance speech. He received a loud standing ovation at the fund raiser...it was very moving. I hope your event was an equal success.

  7. Wasn't the show just GREAT this year? I saw a few of the movies - I LOVED the Reader and Benjamin Button (the only 2 best picture noms I saw). Definitely check out Benjamin Button especially!
