A year or so ago, I uploaded copies of the Turgot Plan de Paris that I had re-sized into manageable files for downloading and printing. I have recently found out that the file-sharing service that I used for these files has been discontinued. I am in the process of uploading all three versions of the Plan de Paris, but have only gotten the master files up so far. My friend Harry sent me this link, which is a very high res version of the map.
I have three versions of the map: an original version,a sepia-tone version, and a sepia-grey tone version. The original version is here in a master PDF and then 20 jpg files, which you can download and print. It’s a big help if you have some photo-editing software for this. Otherwise, your local print-shop can help with printing.
Here is another link to the pages that are in eight by ten inch format for easier printing. They are in the original map colour, and I haven't had time to re-colour them yet.
How fabulous!! My old powder room had wonderful now discontinued Schumacher Paris map wallpaper - not the Turgot but also beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh you have no idea what a mission I went on trying to get these to work when you originally posted them.!! I finally ended up buying the portfolio of maps and having them framed. I currently have 15 of the maps on a wall. I love them! Thank you so much for sharing this with your readers. I hope others can download and have printed out!!

Hi Meg--what a fantastic gift to all of us. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI was in Restoration Hardware the other day and was looking at their huge map for 1200 bucks! I thought I'd try to make my own with this one instead.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Meg, you rock!
I'm amazed on that turgot plan map of Paris. I will copy that also. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThank you SO MUCH for uploading this again. I know it took some time.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I feel like a jerk for asking, but is page 18 missing (I have been accused of being blind once or twice).
Thanks again!
Yes...I was going to ask about page 18, also ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for making these available; I just discovered the drop.io problem and was afraid I'd missed my opportunity by dawdling all these months!
This is a fabulous resource and thank you for putting it online for anyone to see!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, has anyone else noticed that it's been drawn with north at the bottom of the map? Look for the Louvre on any other map and it's on the right bank ...!
Further to my last comment, I've now found out that Turgot felt his map would be better if presented on an east-west axis instead of the (more usual) north-south axis, so you're seeing the whole from a westerly point of view.
ReplyDeleteYou learn something new every day...
hi there. i am finally getting around to printing these up and i see that no. 18 is missing. did you post it elsewhere?
ReplyDeleteMM
Thank you so much for this Meg! I remembered seeing this on your site, but then couldn't remember which site it was on! Finding it again is like finding that lost silver cufflink! You're the best!
ReplyDeletexo,

Hey Meg!
ReplyDeleteQuestion?
Where are the downloadables for the changes you've made for the color grade? I love the gray sepia, but can't find it to dL. Can you email it to me?

Thanks a million!!
Artie
After seeing this post, I was recently in Garden Ridge here in Lewisville, TX where they have an oversized stretched canvas of this map....didn't see the price, but it was probably around $100.
