I saw some pictures of the skeleton racers – they’re the ones who go down the track lying on their stomachs, head first – and for being completely crazy, they seem to have a sense of humour. I guess they’re allowed to wear their own helmets in the Games, along with the official uniforms.
Eric Nelson from Canada, with the subtle maple leaf.
Canada's Sarah Reid, again with the maple leaf
America’s Katie Uhlaender with the eagle
New Zealand's Ben Sandford. Is that a fleur de lis, or a nose?
Sean Greenwood of Ireland. Doesn’t look like a very Irish design, does it?
Canada's John Fairbairn. Just so they know what his brain looked like before the crash.
I don’t care how much you’d pay me, I’d never do this.
Those helmets are crazy wild!! The brain was is my "favorite". Did you see the first ever American won a medal in Luge - Emily Hamlin got a bronze.
ReplyDeleteha ha have not seen those + I with you on this one! xxpeggybraswelldesign.com
ReplyDeleteIsn't the helmet a bit of a joke, anyway? I mean, if they crash into anything head-first at that speed, the only thing the helmet will do for them is contain the splatter.
ReplyDeleteMeg, I'm dying to get my hands on one of those lovely rainbow-colored German team coats. I've done some research on the web and, unfortunately, they don't seem to be for sale, even at the German websites. There's tons of Olympic gear from all different countries for sale, but those seem to be exclusive to the Olympic Team members themselves. I don't know; when we go to Germany and Austria this summer, I'll ask around and see what I can come up with. I think they're beautiful.
ReplyDeleteVery scarey and creepy!
