19!

So proud of home-boy, Michael Phelps for achieving a record number of Olympic medals. imageEveryone in Baltimore knows how hard he’s worked. We about all of the early hours workouts at the local swim club, the multi-thousand calorie meals that he’s consumed at Pete’s Grille after workouts, the trails of children following him around looking up to their idol. The good things and the bad things.

imageHe’s one of ours, and we’re so proud of what he’s accomplished.

  1. Yay, he finally achieved it, we were starting to wonder, he's not in his best form. He has been a great role model and ambassador here. A joy to watch!

    1. I think he might get another one or two! And I loved how he thanked his team-mates for helping him get it done. He's grown up a lot.

  4. It is wonderful to see him doing well & breaking the medal record. There was a nifty story on NBC about the ways his coach has pushed, it showed how truly incredible the accomplishments are(Oh, and no grill is a nice thing as well.)

  5. hmm yes we all make mistakes and some of us suffer the consquence of our choices. In the game of sports some fans have short memories if you are an athlete and run afowl off the field. Look at make up companies and the crazy people they chose to represent the product. If someone buys a product because XYZ is promoting it, ask yourself do I want to help XYZ have a summer home in Montauk? M. Stewart

  7. As well you should be proud. My daughter's bf trained with him years ago so although we're a little further north, he's special to us as well!

  9. It's so exciting!

I get the impression that Michael Phelps is a pretty good, regular guy. My husband met him last spring at a charity golf tournament - said he was very unassuming (and payed his foursome fees, even though he could've easily used his celebrity to have them comped).

  10. Yes Michael seems like a very nice guy and congratulations to him, it's an amazing achievement.

Here the big news is our James Magnussen just missing the 100m gold to your Nathan Adrian.
