Several weeks ago, Terri Sapienza at the Washington Post put out a call for blue porch ceilings and I answered it. But due to over-zealous spam filters, we didn't connect until Tuesday, when she'd already written the article. The posts I did last summer, here and here on the blue porch ceilings at Tivoli House where I work, are among the most highly viewed pages on Pigtown*Design.
The colour we chose for the porch ceiling paint is Duron's Bluebell. The hex code is #A7D2E9 and the RGB values are 167, 210 and 233. I think it is a great colour for the porch and works perfectly with the fieldstone and pale yellow paint on the trim.
Here are some more pictures of the blue porch ceiling.
Be sure to read Terri's story on blue paints!
love a blue ceiling, indoors or out!
ReplyDeleteand glad to read your articles from last summer- i was new to blogging then, and hadn't discovered you yet!
Love it when porch ceilings are painted blue! I"ll have to go open up the Washington Post now. Wish yours could have been included.
ReplyDeleteThe blue porch ceiling was a great choice for Tivoli House. Particularly like that opening photo.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry it did not work out for Woodbourne to be in Terri's piece but I'm glad you are sharing links to her story and your past posts. Pale blue porch ceilings are so classic and refreshing.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful choice of blue. Love the tradition of painting porch ceilings blue.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog and love the photos of your house. Thanks for the time and thought you put into it!
ReplyDeleteThere is a blue tradtionally used for front porches in the deep south called "Haint" blue, for it's purported abilities at keeping such creatures at bay. It's a pretty pale blue color with a bit of green mixed in.
ReplyDeleteI just love these photos and will never tire of looking at them.
ReplyDeleteI wish you and the Post had hooked up. As they say, "I read it here, first."
ReplyDeleteI read this article in the WP as well. If I ever have a "front porch" I will consider this option for painting.
ReplyDelete* I have posted a review on the lingerie hanger today for all to read!*
This color is just lovely. It really is perfect with the fieldstone. Thanks for telling us the name of the paint color you used. I'm so tempted to try this on mine! -Julia
