All-American House 2016

One of the projects I’ve been working on is the All American House 2016. The organization promotes American made furniture, crafts, textiles and food. The national chair of this year’s event is Alexa Hampton, who, if you don’t know her, is a lot of fun. Each participating company is all American, reflecting the organization’s purpose of revitalizing and sustaining the competitiveness of American commerce and industry in a global economy.

The VIP opening was so much fun, and I thought I’d show you some of the transormations in this house. You can see some of the before pictures here.

The All American House is open until July, 2016. It’s going to be great!

  1. What a lovely restoration! I'm curious to know who is/was responsible for the interior design: one designer, or several? I ask, because the design philosophy from room to room doesn't seem consistent. An incredible accomplishment!

    1. Cleo, it's been done by students at several different colleges, so that's accounting for the lack of cohesion.

  2. What happened to all the historically correct wall papers from "before"?
I can't say I'm in love with "after".

    1. They weren't in great condition. I think they were installed in the 1980's. The house is no longer being used as a historic house museum, rather as an event space.

  3. Sadly bland without the wonderful wallpapers. Whether an event space or museum, they definitely dressed it up. And wallpaper is making a wonderful comeback, I am pleased to say. But the paper could always be added back in, if they are of a mind to. Classic papers never go out of style.

Charles Carroll would have liked the reuse idea and teaching tool. Kudos to the group. Where's your p-room, Meg?
