A little more than a year after Connor’s death, I have finally gotten another dog. I would like to introduce you to Figue (the French spelling of Fig, because we’re klassy that way!).
Honestly, if I had to list the breeds of dogs that I was looking for, Yorkie would have been close to the bottom. But once I saw Figue, I just fell in love. She was a stray, and had no chip and no one claimed her. She’s about 15 lbs, so not too small, but certainly easy enough to pick up!A friend of a friend of a friend had found her, and tried all sorts of venues to find her owner, but to no avail. I heard about her, and went to visit her and just adored her. Scrappy, spunky and full of personality. And house-trained, too!
She has settled in pretty well, so far and seems quite comfortable in her new surroundings. She sleeps through the night and has a pretty good appetite. We need to go to the vet and get her chipped… and spayed! And all her shots, and her nails clipped and some more things.
I am thrilled to have a cute little companion and look forward to many happy years with her.
Very touching. I'm so happy Figue has entered your life! Susan
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! Figue looks like a sweetheart, and you must be one as well. I enjoy your blog very much. Best wishes, Elisabeth
ReplyDeleteI am happy for you! Our new pup came into our lives before we lost our beloved Baxter and it took a while for my heart to really latch on to him. Almost a year later, I'm finally in love with my mischievous, little Jack. :)
ReplyDeleteFigue hit the dog lottery by coming home with you! Congratulations on the new addition!
I grew up with a yorkie (oddly enough named "Scrappy!") and my parents have a 1/2 yorkie / 1/2 shihtzu mix now named Grommit. Super smart dogs (which can sometimes be a problem) but I like a good sized lap dog. They're also good watch dogs as they'll raise alarm and bark at ANYTHING!
ReplyDeleteSuper news. Figue is a great name.

She looks pretty settled in!

ReplyDeleteWell, happy to read this news! Figue is adorable, and I love her name. Wishing you two many happy years together.
ReplyDeleteMeg, I was always a large dog person: Shepherd, Golden Lab, Shepherd-Collie mix, Belgian Shepherd, American Eskimo, Boxer-Pit mix (the last four rescues)...each one loved, and sadly, all now gone. Then, Parker, a little terrier mix entered my life...total love...and the sound of those little feet running around always makes me laugh. Congratulations Meg and Figue! Wishing you both a happy life together. Angela Muller
ReplyDeleteOh, the adventures you shall both share. Congrats and welcome Figue.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new friend -- she's adorable!
ReplyDeleteWonderful news. She's a beauty and a cutie and a total love. Enjoy every moment with la petite Figue.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a perfect match. Enjoy yourselves.
ReplyDeleteShe is gorgeous. Double Cheers for people who adopt rescue animals!
ReplyDeleteThe best thing we can do to honor a pet we've lost is to love another one, it's good Karma. I am so glad you got another dog - you didn't replace Connor, you honored him.

Congratulations to you and your little Figue! You will have so much fun correcting everyone at the vet's office when they mispronounce her name. ;-) She's a cutie and I'm so glad you found each other.
ReplyDeleteA new furry friend to greet you when you come in and keep you company--what a blessing. Here's to many happy years with your new companion!
