Before I show you the rest of Flip's house, I thought I'd share the new series of stamps issued by the UK's Royal Mail. They celebrate classics of British design over the last 60+ years. Here are a few.
Lots of wonderful iconic images here. I've always loved the orange covers of Penguin books. I have a little pile in one of my bookcases that I'm finished with but haven't managed to pass along yet because I just like the way they look.
Tweed... I had a set from a few years ago that were christmas puddings that were great. Also ones of country lanes.
These stamps are also the "evergreen" ones, with no monetary value on them, so that when the price changes, the stamps are still good. We're finally doing that here, too.
What great stamps, much more interesting than most. More and more stamps seem to be issued to appeal to the collector's market; though it's nothing new, it must be a higher percentage than in years past with declining postal volume.
Pigtown Design is the musings of Meg Fairfax Fielding, a Baltimore-based writer, photographer and fund-raiser, who explores design, architecture, culture, and current events in Baltimore and around the world.
That which we elect to surround ourselves with becomes the museum of our soul and the archives of our experiences... Thomas Jefferson, Architect & U.S. President
For the most ordinary event to become an adventure, all you have to do is talk about it...
Nothing comes cheap, though the educated eye will always spot very nice things for the least money. - Albert Hadley1921-2012
The ornament of a house is the friends that frequent it. Ralph Waldo Emerson

ReplyDeleteA set framed would be fun... I have a friend who has some lovely WWII aviation stamps framed in a powder room.
