Several months ago, I spotted a pin on Pinterest and it immediately caught my eye. Everything, from the colour to the shape appealed to me. It was a box of chocolat chaud from Conran’s in London.
When I finally got to Conran’s in the Marylebone High Street, all I did was pull out my phone, pull up the image and ask the girl where it was. I had to get the orange, primarily because of the colour and the graphic look and style of the tin, but also because I love the taste of orange and chocolate.
I bought a tin of the chocolat chaud and brought it home. I have to tell you that it’s one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. So rich and delicious. Creamy and bright tasting. In a word: Fantastic!
I’ve tried finding it on-line and apparently it’s from Canada. It’s not on Amazon and it’s barely on Google. The tin doesn’t even have a website, and the Conran’s site has a different name entirely – one that doesn’t even appear on the tin! You can find it here, along with the peppermint and dark chocolate varieties. Funnily, when I saw the peppermint in London, it was in a green tin, and this is in a red tin.
I think that the orange one’s the prettiest!
How lovely to have such delicious goodness inside and then such a pretty box as a keepsake. What do you plan to do with it when the chocolate is gone?
ReplyDeleteI haven't decided what to use it for! I have to finish the chocolate first. But I collect tins, so this is a perfect addition to the collection.
DeleteThank you so much for this great post....I'm always looking for something unique to bring as a hostess gift when I'm invited to dinner. This fits the bill. Thanks, again, Meg.
ReplyDeleteHope that you are able to find it!
DeleteYES - chocolate and orange is my favorite combination too -never heard of it as a hot chocolate. I LOVE the sarabeths hot chocolate and have it frequently and I've added candied orange peel as a garnish before -is it similar or more orangey?
ReplyDeleteVery clear orange taste, a nice counterpoint to the sweetness of the chocolate.
Deletewho would have thought + love the tin. xxpeggybraswelldesign.com
ReplyDeleteIt's always the funniest little things, isn't it?
DeleteThis seems to me a topic a fellow blogger of yours would share in a post. A writer whose participation in the blogs -o-sphere has diminished much like a fading star. I do hope your friendship continues and being mum on the topic is respecting his wishes, however the b;og is listed on your sites to see list and well, I often click on it hoping against hope. It must have been the orange the color of orange reminded me of a sweet orange treat.....
ReplyDeleteLove the tins and the chocolate sounds so delish!!

ReplyDeleteThere is no better combination than chocolate and orange (OK perhaps raspberry comes a close second). I'd love to sip on a cup of this delicious concoction.
