I just got back from taking Connor for his late night walk, and it’s still about 90*F at midnight! Of course, in the dead of winter, we whinge about the cold, but you can always put more clothes on!With the heat, there’s only so much you can take off!Connor does all he can to stay chill!
Such a cute photo of Connor!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Meg,
ReplyDeleteI hear you! It has been hot here, too. But not 90* at midnight! I love that photo!
Stay cool--it has got to break soon.
Mary
Not as hot here. The heat + humidity is brutal. xxpeggybraswelldesign.com
ReplyDeleteBaltimore air unhealthy today and worse tomorrow. Take care, dear Meg.
ReplyDeleteConnor knows how to stay cool! Hope you also find a cool spot to beat the heat Meg.
ReplyDeleteI totally feel for you. It's hot everywhere, but at least it's ten degrees cooler here at night than it is in Baltimore. But you're right, there's a limit to how many clothes you can dispense with. I've been wearing the same three unlined seersucker jackets for the last month--people probably think they're all I own--and I'm getting ready to take my seersucker suit jacket to the tailor to have the lining removed. That might help a little and add one more thing to the rotation.
ReplyDeleteBut the best thing about seersucker is not just that it's cooler than most fabrics, but that, unlike summer-weight wool, it can get wet, as in your first photo. Of course, I don't wade into fountains, but on my way to catch the bus downtown in the morning, I always walk past the house with the heavy-duty sprinklers going, and somehow--with my poor timing, you know--I always manage to get soaked. Oh, well. With my wet clothes (madras ties are essential for this) and the A/C going full blast, I'm the coolest guy on the bus--in one sense of the word.
It's supposed to be 101 on Friday and already the world here in Kansas is sizzling. All I can do is run out and change the position of the water hoses and run inside. I now garden in cool max clothing so it wicks away moisture and dries quickly. I might do the "Connor" if things get hotter. If you haven't read Feast of Love by Charles Baxter, you might enjoy it since you are a "night owl". Stay cool, way cool.
ReplyDeleteTotally O/T, but Meg, have you seen this spread:
