Thanks to the power of Facebook, I got a call at about 8:00 this morning telling me that someone had found Connor. Funnily, he was only a few blocks away. The woman had found him walking around yesterday morning, and since the SPCA wasn’t open, and “non-members” can’t post on their FB page, she decided to wait until today. But someone saw a post she’d put on the neighbourhood page, and connected that the dog in the picture was Connor. Thanks so much to everyone who left a comment, sent me an e-mail, drove around the neighbourhood, stopped by to offer moral support, texted and called me. I can’t tell you how much it meant to me!
So grateful to know that your darling boy is home. I was so worried about both of you, and am now relieved.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about you all yesterday and was hoping that he would turn up by this morning. SO GLAD! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI was planning on keeping an eye on your blog all day until the good news popped up. Thank goodness for prayer, Facebook, Blogs, and wonderful people. So glad he is home before more storms come. Happy, Happy Day!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI rushed to the computer this morning to see if Conner was at home. I am go glad he was found!
ReplyDeleteSue
I am SO relieved! The power of social networking.
ReplyDeleteConnor looks like he's resting comfortably after his big adventure.
OMG Meg, I just now read yesterdays post and I am so glad that Connor is home! After a couple of incidents with Clemmie, I know that heartsunk feeling. Give him a big "welcome home" hug and remind him not to wander away from Mommy!
ReplyDeleteSo glad for a happy ending. I was sweating it out looking at you blog all night.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I'm so relieved for you. I kept checking to see if there was an update and am thrilled that this had a happy outcome.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kathleen
So glad to hear your beloved Conner was found and returned! xx
ReplyDeleteI love happy endings, so glad Connor is home!
ReplyDeleteMeg I am so relieved that Connor is back home with you. I know you were worried sick!

I am not kidding you when I tell you I had a sick feeling when I read your post yesterday. I kept thinking about you all day. What a world we live in - blogging friends, praying friends, dog lovers and social networking. It feels good today, doesn't it!! So happy for you AND Conner.
ReplyDeleteI actually had multiple dreams about Connor last night, and each time I woke, I checked your blog to see if he was home. I am so thrilled for you both! Take that big fur ball to bed and sleep through the rain today. When you wake, go online to purchase the sturdiest safety gates you can find for both your front and back doors. Never again!!!
ReplyDeleteThank God! I was so worried for poor Connor! Thank goodness for Facebook and kind people. I am so happy he is safe and sound at home.
ReplyDeleteIt is funny how we have become so attached to your Connor thru your blog.
Have a wonderful day, Elizabeth
Yay!
ReplyDeleteI had checked in again before I went to bed last night, and I knew you were just heartsick at what was going on. Oddly enough, The Post did a story on a missing dog and the lengths it's owners were going to in finding him. I am so glad this has ended well.
ReplyDeleteMeg - I missed this yesterday so am just finding Connor both missing and found. Thank goodness - I know you must have been worried sick. I wish he could fill us in on his adventure.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness he was found!! Do you have him chipped?
ReplyDeleteMeg, I also just read your blog about losing Connor and a few minutes later was so relieved to know you'd found him. Bad Doggy! Did you ever see the story about a cat in the USA that stowed away in a suitcase and was returned by someone in France! Amazing story - I'm so happy yours turned out as well. We get so attached to these furry creatures, I know you were just frantic.
ReplyDeleteYay!!! This is my fourth visit looking for good news and a happy ending. I know how relieved you must be.
ReplyDeletexoxShelley
Greatly relieved at this good news!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing more unsettling than having
a pet wander off...one begins to imagine the worst.
Connor leads a charmed life, it would seem!
Every dog has its day!! Delighted that all is well. Little blighter having us all terrified across the globe....!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness!! I kept looking at my black lab and thinking about Connor so I'm glad he's home.
ReplyDeleteJust wondering though, does he not have a tag with a phone number on it?
Oh Meg: How absolutely awful for you. I hadn't looked at your posts yesterday...I simply cannot imagine what it must have been like.I am SO HAPPY he is home now! Does he have a name tag? Maybe a good idea? Do you have any idea how he was in the storms?
ReplyDeleteHope you both have a wonderful day today!
Whew! All's well that ends well, and so glad for you
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I'm sure you're just relieved to have him back home, what an awful weekend it must have been for you!
ReplyDeleteMeg, Could hardly breathe after reading that he was lost. So thankful that he has been found!! Our beloved Wheaten Terrier used to bolt whenever she got out despite our loving care--she was just a bolter-- and I used to yell myself hoarse looking for her for hours but thankfully we always found her. Happy Day!!
ReplyDeletexo, Anne
Lost my kittten for, at most, 12 minutes last weekend.
ReplyDeleteShe was still inside, and hard asleep.
Don't know how you lived thru more than 12 minutes without Connor.
Happy ending.
XO T
phew
ReplyDeleteI was talking to my friend on the way to lunch in Towson today about "You know that Blogger I told you about? Her lab ran away - they live down near the water tower" The lunch conversation was about how much we loved our dogs and how awful you must be feeling. So glad to come back from lunch to such Good News!
ReplyDeleteYay! This morning my 2 year old saw Connor's picture and said the doggy was crying. I told her the dog was lost and she started calling him. So cute. Glad you've been reunited.
ReplyDeleteI'd just commented on your post about Conner being lost when I saw this post about him coming home. Doh! In any case I'm so happy you have been reunited.
ReplyDeleteYou might want to ask your vet about microchipping. It is not expensive and is great peace of mind in case a pet ends up at a shelter or research facility.
Glad Conner is home and hopefully no worse for his big adventure.
So glad to know he's home again safe and sound. I'm sure he's very relieved too. Do you have a collar with a telephone on it?
ReplyDeleteConnor looks wore out. Bet you both sleep better tonight!
ReplyDeleteBest, Lisa
So very glad to hear this! What a good dog Connor is!
ReplyDeleteFrancie
Thank goodness. I was besides myself for your sake! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteMeg,
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are reunited with Connor. What a relief!

Meg, I would have been a panicked tearful mess all night! I am so glad Connor is home safe and sound. It looks like he needs lots of hugs, and I am sending one to you both!
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful news! So glad he's home.
ReplyDeleteMelanie
So glad that Connor is home.
ReplyDeleteYou will rest well tonight.
So relieved to hear that your dear lab is safely at home. As one who has found a few lost dogs over the years, I can tell you that the fastest way to get your dog home is to make sure he has a dog tag or a collar marked with your cell phone number. That way, if a neighbor takes him in, they can call you directly and save you and your dog the distress of a trip to the animal shelter or a night away from home.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you should make sure your fence, including the gates are secure and high enough to keep him contained. Gates with a "U" shaped lifting latch can be secured with a snap clip (like a clip at the end of a leash) through the hole in the latch. Lots of clever hounds learn to let themselves out through their own gates.
I am so glad you and Connor are at home together.
YEA!!!!! Connor is found. SOOOOO happy for you.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I am so relieved Connor has been found! My border collie escaped once and it was four days before we found her. She was just on the next street over but that was a terrifying four days.
ReplyDeleteHave you considered getting Connor micro-chipped? A collar and tags are great, but chipping your dog means he can be found even if he loses his tags.
Connor sounds like such a terrific dog- I love the stories about him!
Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!...if only doggies could speak + so happy he is safe and sound. The power of Social Media very grand! xxpeggybraswelldesign.com
ReplyDeleteSo happy your guy is home. Check into getting a microchip for him...
ReplyDeleteLove your blog. I knew nothing of Baltimore except "Homicide" & "The Corner" - both wonderful shows! You definitely share that there is much to learn & enjoy about this historic city.
what is it about golden labs. you all need a support group. A neighbor with a GL-- well this dog would wonder off and find a nice place to rest-- the support group could compare notes maybe a dog whisper could help??
ReplyDeleteSweet Jesus that scared the daylights out of me! I'm catching up on posts today and couldn't wait long enough to leave a worried comment on the lost post. I immediately had to do a quick rundown to find the " found" post... Thank goodness there is one!
ReplyDeleteGlad Connor is home safe and sound!

I'm sorry but I think your dog could be yearning for more time outside... do you take him for long thoughtful walks, are there cafes outside you and Conner could visit and enjoy a cup of coffee... does he need more activity and excitement in his life under your guidance. I have heard a story from a friend that owns a dog which associates the theme music from a sat morn pbs show with visiting the dog park -- something Abby looks forward to from what I understand . though he doens't seem to wander far .... is this behavior something you are willing to accept.
ReplyDeleteHi Anon... we do walk, although we cut down this summer when it was soooo hot. Connor gets a couple of walks a day, but one thing that's different at the new house is that his best friend who we used to walk with, lives on the opposite side of the city. I think he misses that, although we see them about once a week.
ReplyDeleteHe's about 10 now, and has slowed down some. He was very stiff when he got back from his adventure. I adopted him when he was between 4-6, so I don't know his past history.
