On the publication of the Duchess of Devonshire’s new book, Wait for Me, the Guardian newspaper has a terrific interview with her. The Duchess, known as Debo, is the youngest of the famous and infamous Mitford sisters. She resides at the amazing Chatsworth House. In the image below, she and her husband, the Duke of Devonshire tour a sculpture show on the grounds. To read the full interview in the Guardian, please click here. What a great chick!
Great post! What I particularly like about your blog is that I never know what topic you will write about. Very random & great fun.
ReplyDeleteWow Meg an amazing intevirew and article, I went back to look at the sculptures and was again astounded by the collection!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing!

She's also the cover story in the latest World of Interiors, as I'm sure you know. They have (only a few) pics of her new setup in the Vicarage at Chatsworth.
ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed that interview. I hope to be wearing tweed and sensible shoes when I am 90 as well.
ReplyDeleteMeg have you preregistered for the auction at Chatsworth yet?
ReplyDeleteI've read several good excerpts from this upcoming autobiography . . . and can't wait to read the whole. I adore that last picture -- with the chickens. Apparently she's been keen on chickens since she was a little girl.
ReplyDeleteLove the chickens picture - what a great chick indeed!
ReplyDeleteThe Mitford were certainly an interesting family. I'll be looking for this book. She is quite the gal. Great post as always.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip! The interview in the Telegraph on 9/12 was also excellent. Somehow I never tire of her. The Telegraph link, should you wish it, is http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/7993844/Elvis-Chatsworth-JFK-and-me.html. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteShe has long been an inspiration and heroine for me. What a lady!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely loved this!

Just got around to reading the article. Thanks for pointing it out.
ReplyDeletelove that woman. she is incredible.
ReplyDeleteBBC Radio 4's "Women's Hour" had a wonderful, hour-long interview with the Dowager Duchess last week. I think it's still available on the BBC iPlayer website - but hurry, as a lot of their stuff only stays on there for a week afterwards! It's an absolute treasure of a programme and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteThat is EXACTLY the way I dress when I go out to feed my chickens!
