You know that I love books, and I especially like good-looking books, so when I saw these new editions of Nancy Mitford’s stories, I fell madly in love with them!
Five of Nancy Mitford’s books have been republished by Penguin Books, and they all have new introductions and fabulous new covers by Lab Partners. They will be released in early March in the UK.

Which one is your favourite?

ReplyDeleteThese covers are delicious - but inapt, perhaps? The font seems just right but the illustrations maybe a bit too 1950s.
"Pursuit ..." and "Love in a Cold Climate" are superb but her other works don't grab me. In fact, they can't hold a candle to her collected letters!
I agree with the above comment that the illustrations appear kind of fifties. But, I love those books.

Love "Love..." - the first mention of "The Bolter" by Uncle Matthew and I just love that name. I've also read books by or about Nancy and her sisters - what an interesting group they were!

ReplyDeleteOh my - so fun. (I love the recent Waugh covers too) I have read all of Nancy's extraordinary bios - but since I don’t read (non-Waugh/Wharton/ Forster) fiction . . . I have yet to read these. Which one would you recommend to this fiction skittish friend? KDM
ReplyDeleteNO! Perhaps I am a purist but I find the cover designs a bit too, well, saccharine/perky. Neither of which Miss Mitford was. I say back to the drawing board! Good thing the contents remain the same!

ReplyDeleteNancy Mitford's grandfather was Thomas Gibson Bowles...Founder of Vanity Fair Magazine (London 1869-1914) and also founder of The Lady...Britain's oldest continuously running women's magazine...still in print-weekly. Her father-Lord Redesdale's first job was working for Bowles at The Lady. You should read House of Guiness.
