I have been inundated with stupid anonymous spam comments over the past few days, including about 50+ today. I already moderate comments on posts more than two weeks old, but this is getting ridiculous. It’s such a waste of my time to have to reject these spammers, and so for a little while, I am going to turn on word verification and see if that will stop it. So sorry about this.
crap, crap crap. I think I'm going to have to do the same.
ReplyDeleteThat is too bad; hopefully that will fix it!

That is so frustrating! I am sorry that keeps happening!
ReplyDeleteBetween the time I left the office and then checked my e-mail not even an hour later, I had five more spam e-mails. Jerks!
ReplyDeleteI never get it and now I realize it must be because of the word verification...
ReplyDeletedo whatcha gotta do to block out the annoying spams. my blog isn't popular enough for spammers to hit it, but if it ever does get popular, i'm afraid people will have to go through hurdles to make comments on a post due to spammers. :(
ReplyDeleteOk, just when I was considering getting rid of this feature...thanks so much for posting this. Most bloggers have this, and I personally don't mind the little extra step :)
ReplyDeletehey, i think i've been getting similar ones -- as if they deliberately try to make a poem out of nonsense. for a while, i was getting some with the theme of 'jaws'. but i am still getting the mail-order bride ones...
ReplyDeletei get them too - a lot. and a lot in chinese! i just ignore them. to moderate would be such a pain. soooo - i see you have those word verification letters now. or maybe you always did and I didn't notice. i hate those!!! hahah!!!!!
ReplyDeletewhat about the email spammers - about the people asking for money. the newest ones are from friend's email - help - I'm stranded in the london airport and need cash! those are really scary.
I turned mine on for a while then off. They came back. I've been living with it, but will likely turn it back on. So annoying.
ReplyDeletei went to word verification AND registered users only a while back for this very reason- dozens of spam emails everyday. yes, the number of my comments are down a bit, but i can live with that.
ReplyDeletean added bonus is that many of the trolls who haunted my blog no longer do so- i'd imagine because they'd have to sign out of their *real* accounts and into a fake one. too much hassle for even the most bored of bloggers!
I get these on my blogs and on SRT so have comment moderation on posts older than 7 days. Such a pain!
ReplyDeleteI have word verification and still have been getting about 15+ of these a day. SO FRUSTRATING. I'm thinking of not allowing anonymous comments....
