What I wouldn’t do to have a nice fireplace to curl up in front of, with Connor at my feet and a good book in my lap! When I saw this house with its 17th century exposed beams, stone floors and vaulted ceilings, I thought it would be perfect! Unfortunately, it’s on the market for £1.15 million, which is a bit out of my current price range. But a girl can dream… Ohhhh… check out the kitchen with the red Aga stove! Not so wild about the rest of the house, which you can peruse here.
A cozy, comfy get away! Dream away,,,,you never know when our dreams will come to fruition!
ReplyDeleteI'll pitch in. We could take turns living there!
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen the other part of the house, but could definitely do these two rooms!
ReplyDeleteI can see lingering in that little breakfast area for HOURS. I'll put this one on the list right along with the Townhouse off Central Park, the Private Plane (for the dog) and of course George Clooney.
ReplyDeleteWait a minute -- you're not so wild about the rest of the house?? I love it! I'll take every room in it, plus that glorious landscape. Count me in, Meg -- maybe if we all save extra hard for the next, oh, 75 years, we can pool our money and do it!
ReplyDeleteOK GG... I am not wild about the decor of the rest of the house. But that fireplace in the lounge is wonderful and it looks very spacious! The gardens and the little wier are great, too.
ReplyDeleteI could picture myself there doing the same thing. Beautiful dream home. Thanks. nancy
ReplyDeleteHaving spent some time in an 11th century cottage in Sussex (January to past Easter one year) , I came to the conclusion that if I were wealthy and could afford to live anywhere in the world, it would be in Sussex, England - obviously Devon is very lovely too - what beautiful beautiful countryside!
ReplyDeleteBack in days of yore, Chilham Castle, Kent, was owned by my stepfather's family, and, at one time,Bourne Park (a manor house I guess you'd say) in the town of Bishopsbourne, also in Kent - don't know in whose hands it now resides. Your posting is bringing it all back!

The house is disjointed and lacks continuity. The lovely beamed living room is not followed into the kitchen where the beams are painted. The house needs a loving interior designer to pull it together. The kitchen is really pretty awful, Aga or no Aga.
ReplyDeleteI am the new owner of a pre Civil War cabin in Charlottesville Virginia and thus am especially interested in how other people handle these kinds of structures. My day is coming! Thanks for the pictures. Ann
