Even better, I recognized the name of one of the people hosting the sale and know that he's a floral designer. Still better, I knew that the house where he lives and the parties he's given have been featured in Baltimore's Style Magazine. 
We arrived just as the sale began and saw tables loaded with huge silver candlesticks, waist-high urns, containers and everything else that was listed, as well as a plethora of other items. 
Most regrettably, the scale of most of the items was way too large for my tiny house and some of the things I really wanted were duplicates of things I have. I thought I would be able to tap my inner Eddie Ross and find some incredible piece to re-purpose, but didn't.

I'd love a couple of these in front of my place. 
These would be a lot of fun to re-cover.
If I had a decent-size back yard, I'd hang one of these.
Next Saturday, I will be shopping Portobello Road, escorted by House of Beauty & Culture!

ReplyDeleteThe uniqueness of the items was only outdone by the sheer volume of each item! Six or eight of the cherub candlesticks, ten or so of the chandeliers, dozens of candlesticks... it was incredible.

I love the wrought-iron chandeliers. What an interesting sale -- Wow.

BTW, the blue and white thingee looks like some kind of powder box, or maybe even a denture box LOL!!!! I used to collect antique porcelain Chinese powder boxes.

ReplyDeleteSorry this comment is a little late but my vote on the unidentified porcelain thingy is a citrus juicer. This looks like this was in my neighborhood! Was it in Bolton Hill?! If so, I can't believe I missed it!
