Blue Moon

There’s a blue moon this evening. The moon is full tonight for the second time this month. That’s what a blue moon is.

It’s quite shocking to think that it’s September already. The summer has just flown by.

Have a great long weekend if you’re in the US, and a great weekend everywhere else!

These pictures were taken with my little Canon Elph 310HS, which is an amazing little camera.

I love that I can take excellent macro images of things an inch away and also pretty good images of the moon, 238,900 miles away.

  1. I read an interesting article this morning about how the definition of "blue moon" was inadvertently changed and later popularized.

    1. I heard something about that right after I posted, but I think that the 2nd full moon in a month is going to be the common definition of blue moon. too late to put the genie back in the bottle!

    1. kerry... it might have been because the moon was lower in the sky when i took the pictures.

  4. It's amazing how many times that a full moon's beauty is shadowed by storms. In this plague of a drought in the midwest, the moon's second begotten is forgiven for a day's long rain until the end of night.

  5. What a beautiful shot. Thanks for the reminder about the blue moon, my twin granddaughters are studying the phases of the mood for class - so I'll be sure to talk about it with them.

  6. Hi Meg, Wishing you a fantastic September. I can't wait to see what the new season will bring. It's still blazing in SC--our usual hottest month. Be well.
