The 48 Hour Punchbowl Challenge

Several months ago, someone issued me a challenge to find a wooden tennis racquet. Which I did in less than eight hours. Here. So as we get ready to host the Baltimore Architecture Foundation’s 25th Anniversary next weekend, pal Tracey and I decided we needed a punch bowl for our signature drink for the party. We concocted a drink, riffing on the traditional Southside, a Maryland favourite for this time of year, and named it the East Side, in honour of the address of the party – One East Lexington Street. east side recipe smallTracey issued a 48 hour challenge to me to find a punch bowl. I am happy to report that it took just two short hours to find one!And it didn’t cost $6.96 as indicated on the price tag, it was half-price today! So, I got a glass punch bowl and eight cups, plus hooks to hang the cups from the edge of the bowl, which we probably won’t do for a whacking low price of $3.48, plus 6% tax.

I hope that you’ll join us at the BAF 25th Anniversary party as we whip some East Sides in our new punch bowl!

  3. Years ago I found a half priced punchbowl with cups no hooks marked down in a drugstore. Fifteen years ago or so I spent less then seven dollars on it. It is glass and for the life of me I can not read the letters or numbers on the bottom of the cups. Just Suggesting to you if one is enough I confess, I own two. The second one I paid $14.99 at a Ross outlet. I was on a punchbowl jag, they can be expensive. Will someone be stationed as a server?

  4. OMG!!!!! I need a better shot of that punch bowl just so I can see what you have your hands on there. You are AMAZING! I had a beautiful pressed glass punch bowl with 12 matching cups that I had in garage sale after garage sale and could not give it away...had even put "MAKE ME AN OFFER" on it and nobody wanted it. Finally donated it to the church so they could use it in their fellowship hall for gatherings!!! You got quite the steal on this one..hooks included! WOW!!!
