Downton Abbey: Which Character are YOU?

The Guardian has a great little quiz to find out which Downton Abbey character best matches your traits.

Here’s one of the questions:

7. What sort of people annoy you the most?

  • People.
  • You believe it is not for us to judge others. We must tolerate, love and serve them.
  • Anyone who is your sister. {This was NOT my answer!}
  • No one is significant enough to merit your annoyance. Especially not pathetic snivelling little gits like William.

My results: You are the Dowager Countess of Grantham, Violet Crawley (Maggie Smith). Dowager Countess You do not suffer fools gladly. In fact you do not suffer anything at all because you refuse to entertain any form of discomfort in your life whatsoever.

Take the quiz here and then come back and let me know which character you are!

  1. Mr Bates, Lord Grantham's valet. Perhaps I should have gone with my first impulse: the fifty six cases of Pouilly Fuisse instead of the tea in Sevres!

  2. Lady Mary Crawley: You yearn for glamour and excitement. And the exhumation of poor Mr Pamuk. Oh how you miss him!

I would be okay with that especially if she realizes that Cousin Matthew is a hottie himself plus she gets to be mistress of Downton itself.

  3. Mr. Bates, an honorable fellow. Er...make that honourable.

  6. Recently discovered PBS cut several minutes from each episode. Netflix did not.

  7. Lady Mary Crawley, here. I read recently that we can expect the second season to be aired on January 8th, I believe. Cheers!

  8. Dear Aunt Meggie: I am:

Thomas Barrow, head footman (Rob James-Collier). Nothing will stop you in your quest for world domination. Nothing. And certainly not the second footman.

    Should I be worried???

  9. I came up the Dowager Countess, as I knew I would before even taking the quiz. I want to dress like that. It was "my" era.

  13. I can no longer pick up PBS and I refuse to pay for television so I'm afraid I have not yet seen the series. I will have to wait for the library to stock the DVD. I took the test anyway and I am also Dowager Countess of Grantham. Now I can't wait to see the series! Oh how I miss my PBS.

  14. Thomas Barrow!!!! Which of course is compltely wrong and entirely the fault of the writers! Took quiz again and was correctly identified as Dowaager Countess of Grantham.

    What a fun quiz.

I loved the first series. I'm sure the second will not disappoint.

  15. An American Lady Mary. That's too bad. I adore Maggie Smith. But I know I can not pull off her confidence.
Apparently there are a lot of us Lady Mary's out there. Hmmm.... I guess a trip across the pond is in order.

  16. Oh no! I'm Thomas. Must start looking for anything positive in him...not likely to find it, am I? I knew I should have passed on that silly quiz.

  17. Oh how I love this show and can't wait for its return! Just took the test (I know I am very late in doing this, but apparently have somehow missed some of your very interesting posts!) Anyway, I am Lady Mary Crawley! I love all the characters though, even the naughty ones!
