I’ll Take This… Narrowboat

I’ve always wanted to spend a summer cruising the canals of England and Wales in a narrowboat, and when I saw this one in the Guardian, I thought, “I’ll Take This!”.

This widebeam narrowboat has mooring with a car park space costing £120 a month, but the contract is on a monthly basis so can be cancelled at short notice. The boat has two bedrooms, a three-piece bathroom suite, a kitchen and a living area, with walls and ceiling made from American cherry wood. Narrowboat1 The engine is an Isuzu 55Hp with only 800 hours of running. Yours for £88,000. It’s currently moored in Monkton Combe, near Bath, Somerset, a wonderful part of England.

If you hate your neighbours, like I do, you can just up anchor and leave!

  1. What a great way to spend the summer. I'm sure Abbey would LOVE it - although keeping her on the boat and out of the water might be a challenge!

on another note - congrats on maybe getting the house? it looks adorable!! looking at your floor plans, could the sofa go against the stairwall and maybe that way you could open the room up visuallyl? just wondering???

  4. What a great idea and wonderful summers. Sorry about the neighbors--but on to new adventures in the new adorable home. I like Joni's idea. Have a great week-end.

  5. Meg, I lived on one for two weeks in high school. It was a trip of a lifetime living on the canals, working the locks, spending the evenings tied up near a pub. The best parts were floating through the countryside watching the houses, cows and churches floating by. We actually lived in the soft top boats which we could peel back during the day. A convertible house on the water!!
