Harbingers of Spring

Although the last few days were warm and sunny, it's chucking down rain today. I can't complain because we're down by a few inches this year and we really need to bulk up the reservoirs.
Several of the neighbours in the compound where my mother lives are avid (and competitive) gardeners and there's always something fascinating to see. Teeny tiny buds are just beginning to pop out on some of the trees and the fiddleheads on the ferns are just beginning to unfurl.
Is it finally spring where you are?

  1. I'll gladly take a rainy Monday over a rainy weekend. This past weekend was absolutely amazing, although I spent too much time outdoors and now I'm a bit pink today.

  2. What a treat to see the fiddlehead ferns! It reminded me when the hubby and I lived in NH - every spring we'd drive the roads around Henniker and Hopkinton, marvelling at the beautiful stone walls and the unfurling fiddleheads. Fiddlehead soup was always a big spring thing in local restaurants, too. Happy memories!

    We're in the mid-80's today!

  14. I love Spring just before everything bursts into bloom! The anticipation....

It is beautiful here in England, of course. The daffs are done, but the trees have exploded into whites and pinks. And the trees are finally showing some of their new leaves. My absolutely favourite time of year. Plus we have sun! Always a plus in my book ;-)

  15. Spring was way too short. My forget-me-nots and snapdragons are almost spent. over 90 degrees the last two days. Sigh. Your pictures are lovely!!!

  16. Ooh, so jealous of how much farther along you are with Sping than we are here in CT. Our daffodils and tulips are just starting to bloom.

  17. Gorgeous photos!
Here in MA the crocuses have died, the daffodils and hyacinth are in bloom, the tulips and bleeding hearts are growing at breakneck speed, and the robins are going nuts about all the worms this rain is kicking up!
I'm hoping that the rain combined with the weekend of sun we have forecasted will encourage my apple trees along!
