Give a Little

You may know that in my real life, I raise funds for a charity that cares for children in the most desperate circumstances. But things are getting desperate for a lot of people who never thought they'd be at a food bank or in a homeless shelter.
As a public service announcement, I just want to ask you to make a contribution to the charity of your choice. It doesn't have to be a huge gift, maybe just the cost of that double decaf light soy latte at Starbucks for a week. Regardless of what you give, and who you give it to, it will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

  3. Meg...I think more and more people are deciding to donate to the homeless and less fortunate this year. All of the associates in my small real estate office decided not to draw names this Christmas and give one another a meaningless $10.00 gift. We are donating to a New Jersey food bank instead.

The tv ads I have been seeing for the New York food bank say that $1.00 = 5 meals.

I am sending digital cards and donating the postage money as well.

    Wonderful post! Rosemary

  4. It's important that we all do what we can. I've been encouraging everyone to donate to their local food banks as their donations are down and needs are up this year. Like content my office is gathering food and toys in lieu of exchanging gifts this year.

  5. I completely agree. This year I decided to not mail out holiday cards (because if I can't send Washington Monument cards, why bother??) and I donated the money I would have spent on cards and postage to a local food bank.

  6. I said this on Mrs. Blandings yesterday but I seriously told the kids (they're older anyway): Two gifts this year and my husband and I aren't exchanging. I feel we are extraordinarily lucky therefore the rest of what we would normally spend will go to the local Food Bank and local Breakfast Mission.

Good girl for posting this. I intend to do the same - with a photo of the very long line from the Breakfast Mission.

  9. Great gift to give was this post. It pushed me put a check in the mail today to a new not-for-profit that has recently been overwhelmed. I feel grateful that there are people who help. (My H works for one.) I also really like your new header.

  13. so true. my husband and i are hosting x'mas for our combined family this year, and we decreed no gift exchanges. instead, we are adopting a family through our local children's hospital, and getting that family things on their wish list, like blankets, jackets, and diapers. it just makes so much sense to us.

  14. You got it sister!
We may not have much, but there's always someone else who has a little less. And sharing just a little, can mean a whole lot to someone.
