Monarchy: The Royal Family at Work

Are you watching this? It's a show on PBS for the next couple of weeks. It was made on the occasion of her 80th birthday and follows her for a year, beginning with her trip to the the US last year. You can find details about it here or check your local listings for details.

  1. It's quite well done. It was on the BBC earlier this year.

  2. Sir Fop... I have a friend who is a rocket scientist and works at NASA Goddard, so it was especially fun to see HM's visit there.

  3. Thanks for the reminder....I didn't know. I saw it earlier in the year and enjoyed it. I am always a sucker for these royal documentaries, even if it's not the first time I've seen them. I guess it's my English heritage, but I have been a royal watcher since the Royal Wedding in 1981, when I was a little girl and captured by the pageantry. Always entertaining!

  4. No! But I meant to, so thanks for the reminder.

I've been trying to remember for the last few days where I saw the picture of the queen wearing a scarf printed with corgis, and now I remember that it was in the promo for this show.

  5. i'm so dumb - i can never keep the royals straight...the queen, the queen mother, prince phillip, etc. i'm probably this show's intended demographic - clueless about the monarchy - except for diana, dodi, and thinking harry is hewitt's kid - pretty cheeky :)

  7. I've been meaning to catch this...thank you. I would highly recommend the BBC DVD series "Windsor: A Royal Year" if you like peeks into contemporary royal life.

    Cheers!

  10. On many PBS stations this is followed by "A Year At Windsor" which is a look at Windsor Castle in each of the 4 seasons.

  11. I wish, but sadly not on BBC World, (in Bangkok). Bought the book, (aka 'the t shirt'), so on the premise that 'if you liked the book, you'll love the movie', I await fulfilment of that!!
